Damon Bruce with a nice KO of mainstream KNBR

"Screw 680!--they need me a lot more than I need them."

We at 415 Media love real, unadultertated content.

The above verbal salvo was fired by KNBR's Damon Bruce, belting a full-throttle KO to a caller who lamented that "we miss you at 680, (home of KNBR's resident part-time therapist, occasional talk-show host, Gary Radnich and house shill, Robert, (Rudy) Fitzgerald.

Bruce delivered the goods and was being honest about the latest Giants performance.

Again, don't expect to see Damon at Larry Baer's Hanukkah party.

  1. "Comments" are now back?

I'm a fan of both Damon and FP (and even Gary!!). Each has their unique approach and I like variety.

Originally, I wondered if moving Damon was a good thing but wondered if this could be a Win-Win and, indeed, it is for me. There needs to be someone tough in a soft sports market. Damon fills that void.

FP fills another with a peek behind the baseball curtain with his insight and experience. And it isn't all a Giants Luv Fest. He'll call out bad baseball when he sees it. He's likable, interesting, and has himself a 20-something Playmate as a fiancée. I want to be him when I grow up!

My only worry with Damon is that I hope he's getting enough listeners over on the other station. He deserves a seat at the big boy's table rather than pissing away his talent on the lesser sister station.

Love it or hate it, KNBR is probably correct is scheduling less hardcore sports shows in the morning to appeal to a broader audience and Gary is a known personality as are Ralph and Tom for the drive home. For instance, AT&T park isn't being filled with 36K-42K hardcore baseball fans so, to survive, an appeal needs to be made to the casual fan. FP has a good thing going so, to me, that leaves the noon to 3pm spot as Damon's best spot for KNBR prime time. Lets hope, if there is ever another consolidation of talent and stations, that Damon wins out.

  2. I happen to catch that. As he said they need him,he doesnt need them. But,the morning Radnich show where they accused Bruce of stealing Gary's taglines-and played tape of Bruce doing obvious- -to- the -rest- of- the- world, sarcastic imitation of Radnich's old act might have been on Bruce's mind too. The Radnich show did it straight like he was truly stealing that junk. Yeah sure,Bruce is that desperate for ideas...
