Bruce debuts on KNBR 1050; Where was Al Michaels?; Monday media dish

KNBR's Damon Bruce will debut today, (Monday) from Noon-4PM on the stations' sister station, 1050AM . Expect Bruce to get fired up immediately with some peppered content on the Olympics, USA-Canada, (naturally), the Warriors, (we hope) and some biting initial takes on the Giants.

As Bruce boasted repeated times last week on his 680 show, "I'm NOT beholden to the Giants, Warriors or 49Er's." We can only hope and anticipate. One things for sure: He won't have any competition, as Rudy and the angry LSU guy shill away and giggle on 680 AM from Noon-3.

**WHERE WAS AL MICHAELS?

Mystery question of the day: just as USA-Canada entered overtime, mysteriously, without any explanation from NBC, Al Michaels, who hosted the pre-game gold medal hockey showdown, disappeared from the booth. Where did Michaels go? No rhyme or reason. Hello NBC PR people. Anybody home?

Do you believe in miracles, Part 2? No. Darn.

**Speaking of KNBR 680, once again, the station went wall-to-wall Sunday with "best of", previously-recorded interviews from the past week. Nice to turn on the "sports leader" immediately after the hockey game and hear the "Razor and Mr. T" interviewing a Saint Mary's basketball player. Good programming.

  1. I'm telling you, Al Michaels had to get from wherever the studio was that he was in, over to BC Place for the closing ceromonies.

Michaels wasn't doing play-by-play, he was in a studio. Him not being there wasn't the end of the world.

  2. Exactly. Mike Emrick, who is the lead announcer for NHL national telecasts on both NBC and Versus and also the New Jersey Devils called the action.
Al probably was busy with his hair dye.
