Why Rodgers was let go at KSFO; Money and money; Friday am pulse

Lee Rodgers was formally dismissed as the morning host at KSFO, Thursday. Brian Sussman, who is slightly more obnoxious than Rodgers and more importantly, cheaper, replaces Rodgers and began his rantings Friday morning.

KSFO PR brass is saying that Rodgers departure and Sussman's appointment is merely a "natural transition" and that "it was time". Nothing else to the story.

Sure.

Here's the story: Rodgers 'act was beginning to wear thin. His contract was nearing completion, (an industry guy told me it was 'low six-figure',) Rodgers even joked from time to time that if he were going to be fired, "they're going to have to pay me a 'pretty penny." We'll, Lee, looks as if you got your comeuppance. No surprise here.

Take a look at the local broadcasting landscape. For that matter, take a look at how many prominent on-air talent from KGO, ( KSFO's sister station and owned by Citadel) have either been fired, dismissed, and/or given severance packages to "retire."

Or can you say Rosie Allen, Greg Jarrett, Greg Edmunds, Trish Robbins...and the list goes on.

Rodgers is no different; his ratings had begun to free fall and his earnings were too high. Rather than pay him to his contractual end, Citadel/KSFO suits decided to simply pay him off and start anew with Sussman.

Sussman is a wannabee Glenn Beck, only much less talented and about $23 million cheaper. His on-air style is so pedantic, so self-serving righteous, (no pun) it makes one want to puke. He is fond of guns, religion, and doesn't like President Obama.
Gees, how original for the "SussMAN."

  1. I'm a very conservative (though not reflexive) Republican who's lived all over the country, and I think Sussman is a wannabe. His words aren't smooth, he doesn't flow, he doesn't seem to have any depth...over and over, there are glaring problems with him.

The time is right for some competition for KSFO here.
