Bay Area TV 'hottie is good too; KTVU's Gasia Mikaelian takes SF by storm

KTVU's rising star anchor, Gasia Mikaelian, is not your normal, cutesy local TV news reader. In fact, in Mikaelians' case, the word "cute" isn't even right, she's "Hot", as in hot, gorgeous, hot, hot, hot. How do I know? Just listen, (as I do) to various buzz in the local media. Her name gets a lot of attention. Particularly on radio. Dan Dibley of KNBR makes numerous references.

And why not? Mikaelian, (pronounced: Mika-alien) is just the latest Channel 2 anchor who is a quality news reader and doesn't try to dumb down the audience with needless and innocuous chit-chat. Of course, at KTVU, that is their brand. They're franchise. They've been doing it for the better part of four decades.

Mikaelian, who anchors the 5 PM news on KTVU, (and 7 PM on KICU, KTVU's sister station), and occasionally the "10 O'clock News" has developed a semi-cult following among viewers and industry observers for her adept reporting and network-quality anchoring.

She joined KTVU in March, 2005. She began her television career in 1997 as a reporter at KSWT-TV (CBS) in Yuma, Arizona. From 1998-2000 she was an Anchor/Reporter at WAFF-TV (NBC) in Huntsville, Alabama. Her next step was back to San Diego where she worked as an Anchor/Reporter at XETV-TV (FOX). Prior to joining KTVU, Mikaelian worked as an Anchor/Reporter at KPRC-TV, the NBC affiliate in Houston, Texas.
