Trump Tariffs Take Effect --SF Media Lame Coverage; Pacific Rim Factor

  1. These widespread tariffs will cause record inflation. Imported goods will be more expensive, but exported goods will also be affected. Canada is already pulling all American goods off the shelves.

    1. @ 3:17 If not for biden eliminating trump's tariffs on day 1 trump wouldn't have to redo tariffs, I see you don't understand economics and trade imbalance; yet you won't raise cane over biden's huge inflation

    2. They're not dropping tariffs already in place. Canada wants the additional US reciprocal tariffs dropped, which still favors Canada. US response. Pound sand! They've had it good for far to long. You want out of our market? Be my guest. Let me know how that works out for you Canada?

    3. Don't mess with Canada or they'll turn off our electricity.

    4. Don't need Canada for that. Criminal Governor and CA Utility company owns that.

  2. NPR radio did a good job of explaining the tariffs effects.

  3. These are the consequences of electing a millionaire to run the country. He can absorb the highest costs from tariffs, but the 70+% of Americans who are living paycheck to paycheck can't withstand the higher costs. Instead of working on better trade relations, the President decides to invoke highly impulsive tariffs (he's already amended or cancelled some of his orders).

    1. I would correct and say multi-Billionaires to run the country. Sucks for us in middle class masses.

    2. Multi-millionaires and multi-billionaires can't relate to the middle/low class. That's why they shouldn't set policies affecting these classes. Also, having someone like Musk make decisions on government headcount is a joke. He arbitrarily fires hundreds/thousands of employees and then expects the remaining staff to work 100+ hour weeks. Just pure insanity.

    3. Over 12 million employees in the Dept. of Education. Less than half are educators. You want to talk bureaucratic excess and squandering of taxpayer dollars? Just one of many things D.O.G.E. is revealing. Also. Why is an old childless lesbian head of the teachers union @ 10:51?

    4. Dept. of Ed employee number is over 4k but their budget exceeds 275 billion. Since inception they have managed to waste over 5 Trillion. Good riddance!

    5. 12 million employees??? Please let me have some of whatever you are smoking. Try this from the DoE 3/11/25 press release: "When President Trump was inaugurated, the Department’s workforce stood at 4,133 workers. After today’s actions, the Department’s workforce will total roughly 2,183 workers."

    6. Trimming headcount and cutting costs is fine, but where does all the cost savings go? We all pay federal taxes, where roughly 2% goes to Education. Will we all be refunded or will our federal taxes be reduced this year? If the States will now be responsible for Education, then we can count on state taxes to increase. These are the details our government isn't telling us.

    1. It's very impulsive and I'm sure some of them will be reversed once someone he trusts gets in his ear, like Ivanka.

    2. These tariffs tells me he has no interest in foreign relations or trade. He just wants everything to be produced in the US, which is economically and practically impossible. Ally nations need to trade with each other. Tariffs penalizes US consumers and damages foreign relations.
