At least the Chronicle, et al do an occasional radio story. They don't know or care about the "real" story but at least the press release stuff gets in print. The LA Times did a story this week about local tv stations down there and their reporters covering the fires. Not a word about KNX and how it went 3-4 days, 24/7, wall - to-wall coverage, no commercials. Reporters so exhausted they had to call two reporters down from KCBS for relief. . If I were KNX people I'd be pissed.
