I agree 100%, Marty Lurie is GOLD !! But because some nitwit thought it best to cut Marty’s time to an hour or less I rarely know when he is on. I like Laskey too. I could do without Murphy, Lund, Copeland, and Tolbert, they add nothing, and I do mean nothing, to any broadcast with which they are involved.
@6:30 since game times differ from week to week, I never listen to the shows live. For Marty's shows, I usually go to the archived podcasts and only listen to the guests I enjoy, like Bruce Jenkins. It's good relaxing listening on a Sunday night. I also never have to plan my day around the live broadcasts.
Archived shows are here >>>> https://www.knbr.com/podcasts/
KNBR I am sure would play the instant breaking sports news chimes to announce Brock Purdy has a hangnail affecting his throwing hand but Ricky Persall taking a bullet through the chest, naw. What is Dieter Kurtenbach making; minimum wage like most everyone there other than Papa and Tolbert? All a bunch of talking head mostly to themselves schmucks who think they are giving us anything worthwhile to listen to. Get a clue what is sports related Kurtenbach as Ricky Persall is going to possibly have mental struggles if not physical since playing football is your only topic of concern. I think Kurtenbach’s statement is reprehensible and possibly he should be fired or lateraled to the janitor position there.
Doubtful that Heather Holmes could handle a live major breaking story as anchor, she recently mistakenly told viewers it was Willie Brown who had passed away instead of Willie Mays in a lead story.
Zoe Mintz of KPIX is SO obviously NOT from around here! She's still aghast at normal Bay Area weather patterns...like how it can be cool at the coast and hot inland. Until she gets over that wonderment she belongs in ... uh ... where did she come from? Albuquerque? I'm reminded of KRON's wunderkind weather wizard Mabrisa Rodriguez, for whom the typical BA summer forecast was uber-weird!!! Whatever happened to her? Albuquerque maybe?
I'm a BA native and still find it weird that there are so many microclimates not just in the BA, but just SF alone. Hot and sunny by Dogpatch, then cold and foggy in the Sunset, just minutes apart.
Zoe is from Chicago (probably Oak Park) and recently came from Albuquerque NM. She has some WILD eyes (very excited!) but otherwise not bad as far as weather guessing.
I had been an almost daily reader of your blog.. when you went to video posts I stopped coming to this page. It's been months since o have checked the page out and I will say. I miss the written blog
If I had missed a couple days I could quickly read the old post.
Why bother having this page and just migrate to YouTube fully. Or bring back writing
In the bay area we get KNBR, Darya Folsom, unaccountable politicians, lousy traffic and way too many Stabuck$. In exchange we get Redwood Regional Park, surfing in SCruz, fresh fish & crab, world class universities and hospitals, Mt Tam, nice weather, and a diverse culture. Not everything is bad. Look on the bright side, we could be impoverished in Ocala, sweating our brains out.
KNBR is pure Dreck, with the exception of Marty Lurie's weekly interviews. They are always terrific.

ReplyDeleteThanks for that, Marty.
