Dion just had a baby so don't think it's feasible for her to uproot life in hopes for another gig. My bet is she will stay in Bay Area until Tedy is kindergarten age. 👶
Betty’s latest post on Instagram is showing off making “best dressed of San Francisco” hmmm serious journalist in designer duds like Louboutins and Chanel while reporting on the streets of Oakland……
4:47, she’s dating a mega rich venture capitalist, hence all the shit she shows off on her social media including her couture wardrobe, lavish Neiman Marcus shopping trips, constant trips to Michelin-rated restaurants and luxury international travel.
5:43 PM, this would also explain why she was able to take a three month UNPAID leave of absence before jumping ship with no notice to go to KTVU (aka the frying pan to the fryer).
I worked with Betty for years. Nice person. Average reporter. All she cares about is posting on social media and the shallow things in life. She thrives on whoever strokes her ego
I've never worked at KPIX but work in the industry and know many people who've worked closely with Yu, some very closely. She's regarded as a generally kind and positive person and treats others with respect. But what 6:06 and 7:44 said are also correct, she has a long-standing reputation of chasing men with money. For her it's all about status and optics and portraying the life of luxury. Irony is that on her own she has none of it, it's all dependent on rich (white) men.
She needs to move to another station with higher pay to raise herself, baby and husband. Do you expect poker players get paid every month, referring to the man of the house??
There's a lot of comments about Betty Yu. I looked her up on social media it doesn't scream serious journalist dressed in couture presumbly paid for by a wealthy tech gentleman. Dion Lim is the real deal and deserves a primetime weekday anchor slot
Capitalize? Wasn't she representing the station on those segments? As a fellow Asian, I'm glad she brought to surface some of those anti-Asian crimes, but it's infuriating to watch those segments.
I have wondered what happened with Dion Lim on the weekends. Yeah, she was out an insanely amount of time after having your little rugrat, which is another story. But, and this is what I think is crazy about this situation; Dion was courted heavily by ABC a while back, as was dutifully reported in this blog by the best media guy around, Rich Lieberman. She was even on the overnight ABC news show, World News Now, and America This Morning. By all accounts, she did a good job and they wanted her. She seems to have decided that she would rather stay in the bay area. Then, she decides to have a baby, and then stay off the air for months afterwards. I mean, WHY? Just because of crazy laws nowadays, saying that women and men, can take off for months on "maternity leave, or family leave", that doesn't mean it is right or a good thing to do, especially in a position as Dion Lim has. I was taught and really, I learned many years ago, that if you take too much time off at one time, it is not good because then, the employers realizes that "hmmm, it seems like we are doing ok without this person, so why not let them go". Or when that person later wants a raise, why would the employer want to give them a raise, when they do fine without them? Dion was offered multimillion dollar package by ABC, at least, that is what I understand from the reporting here. In an industry where looks matter, one's value as an anchor and/or on-air personality in inherently paired with continued popularity. Because Dion was off for months, her value has severely decreased. I agree that Ming Sze appears to have won this one, which is a shame. Dion Lim needs to realize that she can either have a career, or a baby, but clearly in her case, she cannot do both.
Whenever I watch ABC7 and Dion Lim is on I love how she delivers the story to the audience. She has a crisp delivery. But if she is not happy at Circle 7, I would love to see her join KTVU, KRON, or KPIX.
7:52 Elizabeth Cook is ready for the network. CBS should hire her and become the new host of Face the Nation to replace Margaret Brennan. Liz is very professional, has the look for a network reporter or anchor and a great interviewer. Liz would fit very well with CBS.
Although I think Margaret Brennan should take a hike, I doubt she's going anywhere. Norah O'Donnell is moving on, though. Liz is so underrated. She deserves a local primetime slot at the very least.
Dion is fake as fuck. Terrible reporter. Network saw her true colors! She had a shot and they hard passed!!!! Don’t worry she is a spin queen. Maybe you should ask some real questions and get the truth about her instead of taking the bile she spilled to you. But hey, a pretty woman who actually picks up the phone and you write positive shit about them. We women in the market know what’s up. We make a choice when we don’t pick up your calls or answer the texts. But this b my friend is pulling the wool over your eyes. Why has she been off the air for so damn long? Maybe get that answer and do your damn job.
@7:25. I agree Margaret Brennan should take a hike. CBS should seriously scout and look at Elizabeth Cook. She would be the perfect fit to host Face the Nation. Elizabeth Cook is ready to not only rise to the network level but she could eventually have a major role at CBS News.
Agree, she could go national.
ReplyDeleteMing Sze must be so happy showing bigger gummy smile her rival wants out. This is jealousy between two Chinese anchor both Taiwanese decent
ReplyDeleteShe can join KTVU with fellow Taiwanese decent Betty yu
ReplyDelete@ 11:45 let the cat fight begin
DeleteDion just had a baby so don't think it's feasible for her to uproot life in hopes for another gig. My bet is she will stay in Bay Area until Tedy is kindergarten age. 👶
ReplyDeleteAgree a kid changes everything
DeleteKTVU still hasn't replaced Julie Haener. Will it be wong, Ming, Lim or Yu?
ReplyDeleteKTVU would be lucky to get Dion
DeleteI would love to see Elizabeth Cook at ktvu
Delete12:23 I prefer Dion over Betty and Crystal Bailey at Ch2
DeleteCrystal Baley don't get me started another bad hire
DeleteBetty has been anchoring weekend mornings and claudine wong does not look happy
ReplyDeleteBetty’s latest post on Instagram is showing off making “best dressed of San Francisco” hmmm serious journalist in designer duds like Louboutins and Chanel while reporting on the streets of Oakland……
DeleteWho is bankrolling those designer duds? Not a KTVU salary. Must have a sugar daddy
Delete4:47, she’s dating a mega rich venture capitalist, hence all the shit she shows off on her social media including her couture wardrobe, lavish Neiman Marcus shopping trips, constant trips to Michelin-rated restaurants and luxury international travel.
DeleteGold digger
DeleteBetty is fabulous. Good reporter and a good looking lady. She can do whatever she wants.
Delete5:43 PM, this would also explain why she was able to take a three month UNPAID leave of absence before jumping ship with no notice to go to KTVU (aka the frying pan to the fryer).
DeleteShe can do whatever she wants with those lips
DeleteI worked with Betty for years. Nice person. Average reporter. All she cares about is posting on social media and the shallow things in life. She thrives on whoever strokes her ego
DeleteBetty can read the promoter but is not an anchor
Delete@ 7: 29 nobody talks about why Betty left at Kpix….
Delete@7:48 agree she is anchoring tonight on KTVYU she doesn't have the gravitas
DeleteI've never worked at KPIX but work in the industry and know many people who've worked closely with Yu, some very closely. DeleteYou are on to something rich. Dion Lim has been off on weekends lately. JR stone is filling in
ReplyDeleteJR Stone is unwatchable.
DeleteGo back to Kron JR
DeleteNo surprise.
ReplyDeleteKristen Sze and Ama Daetz aren’t going anywhere. Dion Lim will always be a fill in anchor at KGO for the next 10 years.
The day Trixie goes Ming will be out quickly
DeleteThere is no room for Lim
ReplyDeleteMing dynasty wins
ReplyDeleteShe needs to move to another station with higher pay to raise herself, baby and husband. Do you expect poker players get paid every month, referring to the man of the house??
ReplyDeleteExactly
DeleteI’m not sure Dion would want national she just gave birth to a child
ReplyDeleteDion is a real journalist unlike washed up Ming and material girl Betty
ReplyDeleteBetty Yu is anchoring the KTVU 10 O’Clock News tonight. She doesn't have the gravitas for the evening news
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot of comments about Betty Yu. I looked her up on social media it doesn't scream serious journalist dressed in couture presumbly paid for by a wealthy tech gentleman. Dion Lim is the real deal and deserves a primetime weekday anchor slot
ReplyDeleteI completely agree.
DeleteDion Lim gained national attention with the asian hate stuff. I hope she doesn't capitalize on that
ReplyDeleteIncredible work. Psychologically, it couldn't have been easy.
DeleteDion branded all her asian victim interviews as exclusives but told victims not to interview with other stations
DeleteCapitalize? Wasn't she representing the station on those segments? As a fellow Asian, I'm glad she brought to surface some of those anti-Asian crimes, but it's infuriating to watch those segments.
DeleteBetty is anchoring evenings now. After Bailey oconnel you can put anyone on the desk put that lesbian Tori Gaines
ReplyDeleteTori talked about texting boys on like It or not. Did someone tell her to stop talking about her wife?
Delete@12:36 Hahahah hope so

DeleteHubby works at KGO probably staying in the bay area

ReplyDeleteIt took awhile for a white racist to post their meaningless garbage here
ReplyDeleteOkay Dion!
