Word on Streeet: KNBR into Abyss? Financial Reality

  1. KNBR using syndicated shows?? Bring em on !! I’d rather listen to the guy in Atlanta than from Murphy, Tolbert, Copes, Lund. Papa is barely tolerable - way too much repetition.
I blame the aforementioned for killing the Golden Goose. Their idiotic chat is pathetic. I’d rather listen to hours of Frank & Mike re-runs than listen to 5 minutes of Murphy regaling us with his Tam high glory day.

  2. Did you know Murph went to UCLA?! lol

    1. Murphy’s graduation from UCLA degrades the school. But it is fitting for a Tam High nitwit to go there - rich kids prefer their own type: clueless, insulated, half-wits, with a noisy jolly frat rat mentality. You can hear these noisy yahoos at the Olympics, screaming loud enough for the entire seating section to feel embarrassed.
Murphy’s time is coming to an ignominious end, It cannot come quickly enough. Au Revoir old fat Bruin.

    2. Do you know there's piuctures of Murph in black face at UCLA frat parties? He talked about it one morning with Paul McCaffrey on air. Surprised he didn't get Me Too'd and fired.

  3. That's a shame. If the signal powerhouse goes to all syndicated shows, it'll be time to switch to streaming all sports shows.

    1. Wish somebody would air Rich Eisen or Dan Patrick shows instead of drivel on Knbr and Kgmz.

Papa and Lund's Four Play! Grow up. I can't wait until Copey Copes, Smurph, Board Op Markus, and especially John Lund are given their pinkslipped. Jim Rome is a way better listen than anything KNBR has. Nah nah nah nah! Hey Hey....

    1. I love KCBS.. 😂
Who else has a sports desk, a money desk, a traffic desk. Tons of busy people working at the desk.
Plus all the stolen re-tread news from CBS-13 & KNX. Lots of hard work there ! Wa-la.
As a bonus, they repeat the news thread continuously for 18 hours with no updates on anything.
      Repeated shit.
Thats why they call it a shit-show.
      Every 10 minutes. Same shit.

    2. @ 6:55 I started listening to KCBS in 1967, excellent on site reporters, anchors and editors, great features, segments and guests, regular contributors like Dr. Dean Edell, David Narsai etc. You can count on them for precise weather and traffic reporting around the Bay Area and into the Central Valley, Sadly it's a former shell of itself, hard to listen to, died like KGO, total shame

    3. Yes they also employ MR Felch to clean the restrooms and post his schtick.

    4. I do for the Giants and 49ers.

  6. As long as the Giants are in contention for a post season spot, as they are now, KNBR will have listeners
Just look at the latest ratings. As I recall, when the Giants were sold way back when, KNBR ended up with 5 percent of the team. What do you think that is worth now, assuming they still have it? Cumulus owns KMJ in Fresno. With all.the cuts and bankruptcy stuff, KMJ has never been touched. They have a robust morning news block and local talk shows during daylight hours, even on weekends.

  7. If KNBR were to go all syndicated, it would cost them the Giants & Niners deals. No major sports teams in the country have a flagship that is all syndicated programming. It would be a ratings disaster for the play-by-play that requires the support of the talk programming. Cumulus does have financial woes, but right now their top execs are trying to stop some relentless takeover bids.

    1. The Giants and Niners would be THANKFUL if KNBR went syndicated - Murph Tolbert Copes Lund drive intelligent listeners away from KNBR. Smart folks generally have more money and give advertisers a goal to shoot for.
KNBR has Kars4Kidz, workman’s comp firms, and several car accident ambulance chasing lawyers advertising - the demographic of the down n out.
I am surprised KNBR isn’t offering “free money” yet

  8. When I would listen to Dan Patrick and then turn to Murph and Mac singing about Steph Curry, I would feel embarrassed for M&M.

  9. 1:24 Can you or him shed some light on who this Mr. Felch is? What did he do there at KCBS and what is with his schtick on this blog comments time to time all about if you know. Just curious. Seems he thinks we should know who he is or is impersonating in writing.

    1. 12:35pm, the person you speak of functions as an internet troll, posting peculiar, occasionally nonsensical, and consistently irrelevant comments under the moniker "Peter Felch's Son" or variations thereof. This individual has no affiliation with KCBS and is merely seeking attention on this platform.

    2. Thanks for this information, 12:35. This is exactly what I assumed but just wanted someone else to confirm.

  10. Basically the 49ers and Giants are keeping this station afloat.

    1. @ 6:32 Wrong, Giants is doing best it's can under Bob Melvin, which a ton better than Gabe Kaplan, 49ers will continue to be a "morning glory" team due to bad luck and jinxed coach kyle shanahan, he's already lost 3 super bowls and I'd predicted he'd lose last 49ers SB, have feeling he'll be a Dusty Baker needing to move to a new team and a million years before he'll win a SB

  11. Should've retain Bill Belichick, much more smarter than Kyle

  12. Tolbert and Copes alone are enough to drive me away from anything but the Giants or 49ers broadcast. Heyyyyyyyyy, what's shakin'. Give me a fricking break.

    1. Tolbert has the bonafides of a professional Beer Pong player. Not a lot inside that Bald head, “but he’s stupid” and laughs a lot. He-He-He-He…

  13. Or the classic ending of Tolberts show,Another mans meal is another ones bile. That one lasted along time before thanfully gone.
