Pathetic KNBR Shows Its Worst Ever on A's Sacto Move

  1. I noticed none of the drunks at KNBR who always say conservatives are racist failed to mention MLK today. Papa and Smurph must of failed DEI training.

    1. Why would they mention MLK today? Because it’s the anniversary of his assassination? No one does that for Lincoln, Kennedy, or anyone else that I know of. We celebrate their birthdays,

    2. Did you notice when Copeland took over they all stayed home on MLK day? Talk about milking the system.

  2. Smurf and Doofus are unlistenable, and I certainly wouldn't tune in to them for any kind of reporting on a significant sporting-related news event or even insightful perspective. I did, however, listen to 95.7 this morning and I must say that Bonta and Shasky provided great insights. Once the news broke they immediately shifted to discussing the A's move, shared their personal observations and thoughts on the news, and spoke to a number of callers who provided interesting thoughts of their own from the perspective of an A's fan.

  3. Oh please. Stating the obvious. KNBR sucks. It's a shill station for their beloved SF Giants. They're glad to see the Athletics go to Sacramento. They want them out of the state. The Giants are more than happy to help Fisher Fuck Face get what he wants. Seriously, did you think that Fisher was going to pony up $97 million in rent over a 3-5 year period? We haven't heard the last of this. Sweet James and Ahn Poong, the ambulance-chasing lawyers you see advertise on buses and billboards, should be all over this. Oakland A's fans have been damaged and injured by Fisher Fuck Face.

  4. Fear not, help is on the horizon at KNBR: Their program director, Copey Dopes, is floating the idea of asking certain ‘super callers’ to guest co host their shows when the actual hosts are on various vacations over the summer.

    1. I can't tell if you're mocking the idea or simply stating it matter-of-factly with no underlying tone. Regardless, I actually think this is a good idea. Virtually all of KNBR's hosts are terrible, and I'd welcome any change, even if it's just temporary. Besides, why is it crazy to think that there may be some, if not many, sports fans in the Bay Area who would make great hosts?

Cumulus should fire Copey Dopes and hire me back. I'd get everyone at KNBR back in line. Unless I was out on the golf course with my best buddy, Bobby Fitz.

  5. Papa was good during the morning show and they took a lot of calls in the morning.

Oakland is a very different city from decades ago when I went to A's/Raiders games. The city is now lawless and full of homelessness. It will be interesting to see how long some of the new teams(Ballers/Soul) stay in Oakland.

    1. The Oakland Raiders, hell The Raiders, no longer exist. Moving to Vegas ruined them. They are all glitter and hype, with a layer of pancake make-up applied with a mortar trowel.
They are shadows of what was once a great team. Now they stink in a weak division.
How any person could still love the Traitors is wishful and delusional thinking, they might get into the playoffs around 2050.

    2. @4:31, the Raiders experience is definitely different now that they're in LV, but the team doesn't "stink." They were in the playoffs just 2 seasons ago and were better than average under AP last season. Supporting the team doesn't mean one supports the owner or the city. It could mean we support the players who put it all on the line no matter what - think Maxx Crosby.

    3. 5:32 PM you present day Raiders’ fans are certainly unusual not caring about the City they are in. There are fans remotely for other teams I realize but seems like their remote fan base is likely around 90% from the Bay Area. Las Vegas must be a perfect atmosphere for the Raiders and their fans. Great bright lights vibe with bad boy surroundings but you leave as a loser with an empty wallet / sick feeling. Some of the Raiders’ “nation” of recent years took on a violent thug-like mentality detrimental to Oakland. Glad they left. The A’s fan base has/had more class and cared enough to protest that the owner was bent on leaving Oakland…why not you guys? I drove through Vegas recently seeing many specialty Raiders’ Nevada license plates. Probably some Bay Area transplants who found a casino job or new Vegas fans taking on the Raiders’ badass persona. Raiders’ fans must be proud of a now nomad like opportunistic team embracing what they perceive is a working class at best and thug at worst mentality. The Vegas locals are all in on “their” hockey team I hear but time will tell about the Raiders. Yea, only the multi-million dollar players on the Raiders who on average change teams no less than players on teams anywhere else are so special in that they are the only ones “who put it all on the line no matter what”. What does that mean? Is Maxx Crosby the only star they got? Hope their new quarterback pans out.

    4. @9:33, I grew up in Oakland, so it was natural for me to support the local teams. Once the Raiders left the first time, I found myself separating the team from the city and its owners. The Raiders always wanted to stay in Oakland, but the city and the A's always presented obstacles. On the other hand, the Fisher-led A's wanted to leave Oakland on at least 3 separate occasions, so he finally got his wish. In the end, the players are the players, and they deserve the fan's support no matter where they play. That's why I'm still a Raiders fan and will be an A's fan no matter where they go.

  6. I will again listen to KNBR when they rid the station of the current crop of blah-blah-blah’ers.
Marty L and B Laskey are fine, as are Miller & Fleming. Kruk & Kuip could use some new material but they are otherwise fine.
Papa & Ryan during football season are decent, but nowhere near as good as Kevin Harlan.
That leaves out B Murphy, K Lund, T Tolbert, Copeland - when their voices go unheard, I will listen to KNBR again.

  7. Are people still upset over Renel’s departure, or is that old news at this point? Last I heard, people were up in arms, claiming the Giants’ attendance and thus revenue would plummet as a result. LOL. Joking aside, one thing that is certain: if the 2-5 Giants keep playing like they have been, there most certainly will be a drop in attendance, revenue, and interest, regardless of who the PA announcer is or isn’t.

    1. The product on the field is all that matters - and by every measure (at 7 games) the team looks weak and uninspired.
It looks like another 4th place finish. Win total? Mid 70’s

    2. It's tough to justify paying top $$ to attend a Giants game when the product on the field is about as exciting as watching paint dry.

  8. If John Fisher aka "Rachel Phelps" gets his way, the team plane will be a Douglas DC-3 that's been mothballed in the Mojave Desert Boneyard.

    1. John Fisher has no business owning a baseball team.

    2. John Fisher should never be associated with baseball, just like Donald Trump should never be associated with politics.

  10. Murph panics whenever there’s real sports news because he knows to things for certain: (1) people will naturally turn to sports radio for info (2) he’s ill-equipped to lead an informative discussion or segment about anything sports related.

  11. KNBR should be boycotted just like the Orangevale A’s.
Only when the money-men suffer will the game change.

    1. I have been in protest mode for a while now. I catch Rome in the morning and Frank & Harry now on KNBR's sister station 1050 (ESPN) now. Weekends and evenings, I like Fox Sports on 95.7. Local talking heads can turn me off fairly quickly reminding me to switch over to real sports talk.

  12. Hey Rich... Did you see Bailey O'Carroll's report at 6:02am from Oracle Park on the Giants home opener? She looked like a deer in the headlights and asked this lame questions about the $15 million the Giants spent on the upgraded sound system. Why is she even on television? Horrible KTVU! DO BETTER! Bailey go work someplace else. Maybe KCBS?

    1. That's why her nickname at KTVU is Bumblin' Bailey. She is nice just not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to sports.

    2. Good point 3:56. Did the other team owners agree to this move? Only cheapskate Fisher would have his team and the visitor teams play in that heat. The Arizona Diamondbacks have a retractable roof by necessity but this minor league stadium or whatever it is without such is a joke. Why does MLB let this Gap heir get away with this. Why are none of the so called Bay Area baseball writers all over this stupidity?
