Serious question Rich, why are you mocking your viewers who don't know why a popular show they watch is off the air and thus turn to you for information, as the Bay Area's leading reporter on all things media? Remember, not everyone is as plugged in as you, which is why they visit this blog. Hope you have a nice Saturday.
Plus there's a prominent message on their web page saying:
Due to maintenance work at KTVU, our regular live newscasts on Saturday and Sunday will be replaced by a variety of special reports, including the Best of Zip Trips, the Race to November and much more. The KBS America on channel 36.2 will also be unavailable. Regular programming on KTVU and KBS America is scheduled to resume on Monday, April 29. We appreciate your patience while we complete this work.
@ 9:53 I truly enjoyed "Best of Zip Trips" this AM, reminded me of the past, too bad they killed it, was more entertaining than the MO2 news repeating itself
Can someone tell me what is really on 36.2 Digital as of today? Someone said it was a korean station but closed down and it is still a korean station, anyone with DIGITAL OTA please let me know

Perhaps diva Betty Yu demanded they upgrade their studios to fit her desired aesthetic and brand. After all, she left KPIX in a big rush and gave zero advance notice, so KTVU probably didn't any have time to prepare and now they're scrambling.
Calm down. They had to move the electrical room from the basement to the first floor. There is no electricity in the building until the change over is complete. Next weekend will be the same. Yes it's major building maintenance. Yes Fox Corp. knows. Do you have any idea how long it takes to return a Tv station to air after a power outage? I am betting you don't. Do your homework better next time. Maybe some of your KTVU "spies" could fill you in next time.
“No electricity in the building until the change over is complete… next weekend will be the same”
So then shall we assume that there will be no newscasts at all this week, since according to your statement the electricity will be out through at least next weekend?
I think the work is being done on the weekends only, so they should be up and running Monday morning to Friday night, then same thing again next weekend.
"I wonder where they are running Master Control from. Elsewhere in the Bay Area? Atlanta? Anyone know?"
Elon Musk has invented a special battery, the MUSKrat, that holds a one billion kilowatt electric charge indefinitely, weighs one pound, and works perfectly forever. It can also drive itself from location to location and set itself up with its own proprietary AI, which is called "Elon-Brane." This is what astronauts on Mars will use next year, and they're getting there by hyperloop.
I will be honest here. I watch KTVU news even MO2 weekends and the regular 10pm news also on weekdays and weekends. Not only just to be informed of the local events at the earlier times but another reason is the on camera personnel: Julie Haener, Heather Holmes, Cristina Rendon, Rosemary Orozco are pretty to look at.
No one watches the weekend news with low viewership that’s why they put the worst or newbie anchors on air who wants to be on live TV badly on weekends
You’re right. Very sad. All the stations have pretty much no viewership on the weekends. Its a wasteland. Kron and ktvu used to have strong weekend mornings but they lost (pushed out) all their talent. Poor kron, that station has really gone to the toilet ever since it got that horrible bigoted general manager with the Napoleon complex
As a retired attorney, allow me to offer some gratuitous legal counsel. The right to freedom of speech does not absolve one from the repercussions of their expressions. Furthermore, it does not grant unrestricted license to defame individuals through slanderous or libelous remarks. While you may express your opinions extensively, exercise caution, as your platform is a public blog frequented by industry leaders and peers of your subjects, who themselves are public figures. They possess a stronger argument that your demonstrably false assertions result in some form of detriment, whether to their reputation or otherwise. This is exacerbated by your frequent statements touting the reach and viewership of your blog, and by extension, your YouTube channel.
This is not Otis. MO2 on weekends is a program that retreads the Friday night news. Most folks want to sleep in, hit the road, eat a hearty breakfast, goof off with wife/husband/kids. The time slot makes little sense, but perhaps it generates enough income to justify its continuation.

ReplyDeleteMight explain why she did one report and has been off ever since. She probably felt ktvu’s current look was beneath her.
DeleteNewscast should return on Monday then no electricity next weekend.

Thanks for the update. Sounds like Caltrans is doing the work.
DeleteThey could've went "COVID WFH" style for two weeks, instead of no show at all, but KTVU will KTVU.
ReplyDeleteFor a moment I thought the people at "the Firm" FOX 2 forgot to pay their PG&E bill...
ReplyDeleteMore likely that they paid their PG&E bill, but PG&E got a forecast indicating a little wind in the Jack London Square area the next two weekends.

DeleteSomeone or some people need to communicate better. TV is the information business. Right?

Hi there 'not Otis.' What you said may not be true, but remember not everyone watches Friday night news :)
