Gasia Mikaelian Loses KTVU Newsroom--Exclusive

  1. That's a shame. Always liked Gasia.

  2. It's clear you don't watch the morning show because if you did you'd know Dave Clark and Frank Mallicoot are the real problems. Both are so awful in so many different ways they make Gasia look like the re-incarnation of Edward R. Murrow.

  3. A vote of no-confidence in the newsroom is bad Juju. The long knives are out and nobody is exempt. She doesn't have any trade value, so she'll probably be DFA'd for a player to be named later.

  4. gasia is an anchor, not an investigative reporter or a general assignment reporter tasked with finding stories and telling impactful narratives. her role is to read stories off a teleprompter that others have discovered and written, and ad lib and make chit chat as necessary. she seems to her job well and seems to excel at breaking news coverage when she has to improvise without a script, something virtually no one else at does well. i’m not sure what more she’s expected to do that she’s not already doing. do we expect models on "the price is right" to be experts in all the details of the various products and vacations they present while smiling and extending their arms? no. so why does it matter what gasia or any other anchor (aka teleprompter reader) knows or doesn’t know or does or doesn’t do when they’re not on camera doing what they're paid to do? as far as i'm concerned all that matters is she knows how to read off a prompter and does it well.

  5. According to some former/current KTVU employees who comment here, it seems that Gasia is a real problem. But she's fine on camera and I have no problem continuing to watch her and Andre Senior every morning.

  6. Gasia is a total fake. She could care less about the news. She’s a reader. Nothing more. And I know cause I worked with her for several years.

    1. What does "caring about the news" look like? Did Walter Cronkite care about the news? How would you even know?

      Delete
    2. To the viewers, we only care if she can read her lines.

      Delete
    3. If All you care about is someone reading her lines then you are pathetic. I want an anchor where I know he or she cares. That he or she knows the news. Where he or she is real and not fake. Gasia is a total fake. And I know because I worked closely with her for years. You can believe me of not. But that’s the truth.

      Delete
    4. 3:50, exactly. do we care if Drew Carey or formerly Bob Barker doesn't know or care about the products they hawk on the price is right?

      Delete
    5. 1:16, I only care if she can deliver the news to me. Everything else is unnecessary.

      Delete
    6. Serious question, why does it matter if someone's fake if they're delivering the news? How does a person even tell when watching the news?

      Delete
  7. I can’t stand her. Her fake smiles make me sick. This is what she posted once on Facebook. Someone left lemons on the assignment desk. She posted. When I see lemons I think lemonade what do you think? Really??? Do you see her ever post anything of substance. She’s a complete phone just like Dave Clark. And just like Leslie Griffith. ANC I worked closely with all of them.

  8. None of us know what goes on behind the scenes but as a casual viewer schmuck Gasia seems fine to me, and some nice eye candy to boot.

  9. Meanwhile over at KRON somehow the station let Vicki Liviakis off on election night? It better be a personal issue (illness, etc) and not a vacation. That would be inexcusable...

    1. Oh shut up. Do you run KRON? Let them decide who works and who doesn't.

  10. I think if Gasia used the KTVU news laptop given to her for personal email and texts she would be fired sooner than later! So let me get this straight Rich: so she, Mibach and Haener are about to be let go or pushed out somehow or demoted? Is this as accurate as your mumbling, stumbling off the cuff Martin prediction 2-3 years ago about his retirement? He is still there somehow. What are these KTVU people at the news station saying more specifically about what has changed this week with Gasia’s work ethic or whatever? Otherwise, this seems like more noise.

    1. And Trixie is still at KGO. And the big shakeup on the KTVU and KPIX morning shows never happened. And big news Rich had about so many anchors and reporters "that would happen soon" never materialized. Sure a few things have come true, but if you predict enough, things stick and then you claim you *predicted* them. That's how TV stock pickers work.

      Delete
    2. Gasia needs to check her phone 24/7 to keep up with all the gossip she dishes out and shit she talks about people.

      Delete
  11. Nice Pic! I thought Frank hated when she does that? They look like besties to me!

  12. Please send her back to the field reporting. She is getting very unattractive on television, she should retire in 5 years. Please welcome the younger age staffs

    1. It’s amazing what globs and globs of makeup can do. You should see her in person. She’s barely resembles the person you see on tv.

    3. So you watch the news to see attractive women. Gasia is now unattractive, but she should wait 5 years to leave TV?? Makes a lot of sense.....SMH.

  13. I did not recall Gasia used to work nights. Was she already demoted to mornings at some point in her career? Guess this would be the final demotion out the door.

    1. Best wishes to Gasia on her next career endeavors. It sounds like she’s burned all her bridges at ktvu so I think she’s done there. They just want her gone. Maybe another Bay Area station might be willing to take a chance on her, like the Cardinals took a chance on Brandon Crawford for a bargain basement price when no else wanted or desires his services. Anything is possible but Gasia’s reputation precedes her and she’s damaged goods in the bay. She claims to have young children so I doubt she’d be willing to take a job out of the market. In all likelihood this is the end of her tv career. She’ll probably just stay home and fart around the house and bake when she feels so inspired.

  16. Gasia is nothing more than a hyper-judgmental, phony to the core, obnoxious loudmouth yenta who should’ve been shown the door long ago. For some reason she can’t resist the urge to boast about how ‘frugal’ she is whenever her colleagues mention anything that triggers her. Which seems to be all the time. It’s incredibly strange and a sign of tremendous insecurity, especially for a person of that age. It’s actually sad to see a grown woman proudly embarrass herself each day with no shame whatsoever.
It’s not just Gasia though. Dave Cluck, Frank Mallicoat, Pam Cook and Sal are as bad as Gasia, if not worse. Time for ktvu to send the entire morning show to the retirement home/convalescent home/hospice care.

    1. She can't win. If she boasts about being frugal, she's insecure. If she boasts about being paid well, she's arrogant. Should she just not say anything? What's wrong with having some innocent banter? As someone who grew up in a middle-class family who has always been frugal, I can relate to Gasia. Today, I can afford any new car I want, but choose to always buy used cars. This is a product of my upbringing, and is something to be proud of.

When the story ended, Julie asked the reporter "how was the video captured?" Ummm Julie, that was literally the first thing mentioned in the story.

  26. They need to get rid of the following windbags, has-been deadweight salary vampires:
    -Dave Clark
    -Gasia Michelobian
    -Julie Haener
    -Frank Mallicoot
    -Sal Castaneda
    -Roberto Gonzales

Move Mibach to lead sports anchor or ship him back to Siberia, aka the 4am news as Dave Clark replacement. Promote Alex and Heather to the prime times news, per the recent Rich Lieberman Pulse reporting. Move Christina Rendon and Andre Senior a rung up the ladder to a more prominent role.

on the reporter front, dump tori gaines and tell Zaz Zoss to get a new jacket. Does the guy own anything other than that army green puffer jacket? That's the only thing he ever wears whilst reporting. Give Joey Horta a more prominent reporting role (he's good). Christian Kaftin is also good.

  27. So I debated long and hard over whether to say this.
    This is Frank Somerville.
I worked with gasia for years.
I can tell you for a fact that she could care less about news.
She even told me one that her job was just to read.
    Can you imagine.
    I’m not a reader. I questioned everything.
It drove the producers crazy. But that’s my job.
Her and Dave feel differently they just want to read.
They just want to be on tv.
They just want to be celebrities.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again.
On the night of the ghost ship warehouse fire, the biggest story of the year, gasia was doing the 10 pm news with me.
I’m totally focused on the news.
Gasia was totally focused on doing Facebook live.
It was so distracting that I told her if she didn’t stop I’d throw her freakin phone across the studio.
Imagine 36 people dead and gasia was more focused on Facebook live.
Sadly that is who she is.
You can believe me or not. But that is the unfortunate truth. And EVERYONE at ktvu knows it.

    2. Yes, but I could have seen you without any thought reading the Sum Ting Wong script you had to apologize for as the “face of the station”. A news writer, maybe former, who posted in this blog at least twice, said you did not understand things well; hence the questions I suppose.

  28. I call bullshit. Frank would not bad mouth a fellow anchor.
Gasia is fine, just like all the rest of the anchors in the bay area. They do their job day in day out - as Woody Allen said “showing up on time is 80% of it”.
I love reading all these kooks whose lives have been ruined by someone - a news reader - they view as inferior. Change the channel !! Better yet, read a book. Calm the hell down.
Is this the result of entitled folks who feel slighted and bitch about everything but do absolutely nothing to improve their lot? Go help kids in need, volunteer at a park, educate at risk kids, donate some time — if you have time to bitch bitch bitch, you have time to improve our world.

    1. Yup probably. But at least I know I spoke the truth. At least I know I wasn’t fake. I cared about news. I cared about the people we covered. My downfall was that I cared too much. I couldn’t go home and just forget about it like gasia and Dave. I wish I could. But I can’t. Cause that’s not what an anchor should be.

    2. Long before his post here he was toast. I guess he is now aiming to create an opening and chaos TOO (did I get it right with all caps Frank?) which in his mind may get him back in the anchor chair at some hour.

    3. If you’re going to talk about fakes and phonies who go home and forget it like gasia and Dave (which is totally accurate) then you should also mention Julie Haener and Frank Mallicost. According to Rich’s Pulse reporting you’re good friends with Haener so unlikely you’d ever speak the truth but it is what it is.

  32. This is Frank. I called out gasia because I can’t stand innuendo or people talking when they don’t know anything. I’m calling her out and telling you what she’s really like. I’ll also tell you what Leslie Griffith was like. She was literally crazy. And did no work. She just complained when she got on the set. But this is why she’s crazy. These are direct quotes from her. She told me one that urine used to come out of her ear. She told me out of the blue that she hadn’t had sex in three years. She told me Gavin newsome was coming over to watch movies with her. And she told me that she had to pull over on highway 24 to throw up. Leslie was a cancer. She would totally throw anyone under the bus including me. Gasia is the same way. And I’m sure there are things I did that pissed people off. And totally happy to hear them. To apologize. And to take ownership. Again I hate innuendo.. these are all real stories. Period.

    3. Frank, thank you for mentioning Dave Clark in your other comment. even as a casual viewer I can tell he has absolutely zero interest or knowledge of the subject matter he talks about. He can’t pronounce the most basic terms in mainstream news and when chit chat ensues has nothing of substance to say about news topics. I’m not sure why he even wants to do the job. It’s embarrassing and reflects poorly on ktvu that they put these people on air who couldn’t care less about the people and stories they cover. Thank you continuing to beat the drum and expose these phonies.

      Delete
    4. Leslie Griffith should be off topic.

    5. "I’m not sure why he even wants to do the job."

You want to know the main reason why Dave Clark wakes up at 2:00am each morning to be on air at 4:00am? He has an adult son with severe developmental disabilities who he takes care of full time. He does the early shows and then goes straight home to begin his second job which is to take care of his son. Say what you want about his anchoring skills or his 'news acumen' (as Rich likes to refer to it) but no one can question his character, committment to his family, and his love for his son.
So yeah, if he's not spending all day reading news and obsessed with news it's because he has more important things to do when he's off the clock.

    6. I agree I know about Dave’s kid. And I get that. But Dave just isn’t a news guy period. When he first. Ame to ktvu he bragged about getting the first interview with Janet Jackson after her top opened up. He also put a big pic of him with his arm around oj Simpson and it was taken AFTER the trial. And I’ve been told by coworkers that he does no work. Just more food for thought.

    7. @7:14, this is a good reminder. Everyone is dealing with something and often, people are too quick to judge. Work is work. If it becomes your passion and it doesn't interfere with the rest of your life, that's great. But work should not define a person. Everyone should "work to live," not "live to work."

  33. As a former ktvu employee, here's what I'll say about gasia: she was generally pleasant and polite to your face. She's boisterous, opinionated, and very much a go-go-go personality. It’s either zero or 100 with her. There’s no in-between. She's extremely two-faced and gossipy. She’d constantly make comments about people behind their backs without caring who was around, always eager to point out flaws. The more people around, the better. Disagree with her on anything, and she’d take it personally, going into "Gasia mode". You had to walk on eggshells around her.
Everything was always about her. Mention a nice dinner, and she’d make it about her frugality. Flaunt a stylish jacket, and she'd boast about her bargain-hunting skills. Even discussing family vacations, she’d emphasize her family’s cost-saving approach.
For those who don’t know gasia or never worked with her, this was her reputation. No one trusted or liked her outside a select few with identical personalities. These are indisputable facts known to anyone who has ever worked with her.

The thought they can’t express their first amendment right outside of work is ridiculous.
