You can’t blame them considering all the drama that’s taken place over the past few years with several on air talent disappearing under mysterious or dramatic circumstances. Me? I’m in the camp of those highly skeptical and doubtful Yu will return to PIX. So much so that if she returns, I’ll make a $150 contribution to your page.

Right. Something happens to person X, so the same thing must be happening to person Y, even though there's no connection between X and Y. The last person who was injured in a car accident faked it, so this person must be too. And the next person. Hey, the last person who posed at 3:15 was a murderer, so you must be too!
Best wishes to her. Despite all the sniping here I really like her and she is well-liked at the station. Brian Hackney, who is despite the juvenile carping here one of the few serious journalists in the Bay Area, thinks highly of her, for one. I hope she's well.
4:06 agree that Betty Yu is very well liked and she treats people with kindness in the newsroom and studio. She is a very responsible reporter who does a solid job and creates no drama. I can only speak from years of experience there
I've always wondered why she wasn't anchoring? There are so many amateurs in the market. Betty doesn't come off as a phony person. She did such a great job with her stories, especially the one with DA Pamela Price.
The only dramatic and mysterious leave at KPIX I can recall was VDLC.. and we know she is a certified monster. I wouldn't throw Betty in that category. I don't know her personal health history, but I do wish her a full recovery.
HEY, 3:15/the OP: Do you even work here at PIX??? She's a pretty cool chick....great to work with. She has some things to deal with...and management (and the rest of us who DO work here) have got her back.
I hope Betty will be back soon. I don’t think she wants an anchor gig. She likes going to society events and posting it on IG. She would have to cut back on her social media lifestyle with anchoring the 6 and 11pm news.
I was on YouTube and guess who came in to fill in for Jessica rather than Darren Peck or Mary Lee? Rich's favorite guy from the past who left KPIX, Paul Deanno (former Chief Meteorologist at KPIX).
Betty Yu has not returned. However in other news Paul Heggen is going to be out for the next 2 weeks due to some recent surgery. Believe me or not it’s on his IG, he’ll be back 4/15.
So now it looks like when it comes to Virtual Weather, Brian Hackney is unlikely to ever show up in primetime. On Sundays when we had virtual weather, it’s been between Darren Peck (and once case Paul Heggen).
Now Darren Peck is filling in during the week & Brian Hackney on weekends till Heggen comes back. Hence no virtual Sunday weather when you have Hackney.

ReplyDeleteThere were a few cases where Hackney and Yu anchored together on the weekends. Personally I have enjoyed Betty Yu’s reports.
DeleteSounds like the recent post has got traction that Betty Yu has recovered. My expectation is she should be back in March.
