  2. Thanks for the solid debrief, Rich. Put me in the camp of people who think you did a great job. Is there room for improvement? Of course. There always is. What's important is that it sounds like you've accepted constructive feedback in the spirit in which it's intended, which is development, growth, and continued success. A good interview informs the audience, provides perspective, and provokes thought and discussion. Your interview with Mr. Somerville checked all those boxes.

I'm looking forward to seeing future interviews on your YouTube show.

  3. It’s been almost 4 weeks and the KGO Circus left town. Mysterious missing anchors of Reggie Keys and Kamasi Erin? Was there a big shake up? However I am loving the toned down newscast and straight to the point with Julian and Amanda. It’s my new alternative to background sound when getting ready for work instead of KTVU when I don’t want to watch Sal or Gasia.

    1. Reggie Aqui is back today & they just said that Kumasi Aaron will also return. That's great because I cannot stand that Gloria person who gushes & D R A W L S every other word (though I'm afraid that she's going to stick around no matter what). Thank goodness for Drew Tuma, I'm so glad he didn't go on vacation with the others.

  4. Mainstream news staff are all bitter and butthurt now that you've just gained massive credibility now that you had a one hour sit-down interview with one of the most known and popular anchors in Bay Area media history. Their attempts to ridicule and diminish you are becoming increasingly feeble and desperate.

    1. 1.1k views of the interview,, and 240 subscribers now. Yup, Rich is breaking the Internet and mainstream media in the Bay Area is jealous he got the interview none of them would do in the first place. Give me a break. I suppose the 1.1k could be the same number of people on average still watching KTVU news.

  5. Great job Rich!!!

What was with KCBS overnight they didn't have a traffic reporter so Shane Guinness did the whole show. I really wish Shane would take it down a notch. He's got a good voice but doesn't need shout the whole show. Relax...

  6. Rich, good for you posting both the good and needs improvement comments on your FS interview. The more you do these, the better you’ll get at it. It’s an ongoing learning and experiential process. You should however take advantage of those who have reached out to you on the look and feel of your videos. They need a whole lot of improvement, IMO. I am confident there are folks in your network here that would be more than willing to assist you! YouTube is going to be your primary communication platform now, so I am sure you’d agree that the more professional and tidy your videos look, the better for you and your endeavors. If you remain in the “it is what it is” camp, it won’t work, I assure you.

  7. Carolyn was sick and vomiting in between reports. They decided to leave her alone and let Guiness do traffic.

  8. Anchoring the news this morning was like trying to navigate a minefield... of my own making! Talk about breaking wind and breaking news simultaneously! I was hoping for smooth sailing, but my stomach had other plans. Who knew delivering headlines could be such a gas? Here's to hoping tomorrow's broadcast is a bit less... explosive.

  11. That's nice. You and Frank gave each other a tug job. Now, why don't you and the rest of the parrots report some real news like this. "Turmoil at CBS — Catherine Herridge’s Firing Escalates as Network Seizes Files and Exposes Confidential Sources". This is terrifying as it is a page out of the Goebbel's playbook.

  12. Rich, You did well for a first video interview with Frank. I know you had some learning curves to master, but, overall it was a good effort. It was very informative and interesting. You are a natural on YouTube and will continue to watch and learn more from you. Thank you!

  13. I agree that "mainstream" media would rip off your content and scoops in a heartbeat without proper attribution or credit (they've done it before...I'm talking to you SFGate and Mercury News) but in the case of Frank Somerville I don't think it'll happen only because I don't hear anyone else talking about him outside of this blog, and certainly not in any way that would reach "mainstream" media appeal.

That said, I think you did a solid job, especially for your first YouTube interview. The feedback I have has already been articulated by other commenters, in ways much more articulate and eloquent than anything I'd write. Keep up the great work!

  14. Today I heard KNBR Murphy re-live his Glory Days as a high school baseball player. I just about puked. A grown man, mid-fifties, still thinks listeners want to hear about his high school exploits. Murph is a complete Idiot. He really is clueless.
Pound another nail in the KNBR coffin, this kind of radio isn’t worth a listen.
