Correct pronounciation of Brook's last name is Je-Roe.

  1. Good content. Brooks Jarosz was solid in his investigative reporting. Sorry to hear him leave. Speaking of content Rich, and unless I missed your perspective on it, I'm surprised you did not report on Audacy filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on the 8th and it's impact on Bay Area stations, especially KCBS and 95.7 The Game.

  2. They probably asked Brooks to interview Ted Lieu about his bill co-authored with Adam 'Pencil neck' Schiff re: Nationwide Ban of Rodent Glue Traps. No. This is not a joke. Dems, laser-focused on prioritizing the concerns of Californians.

  3. Congratulations to Brooks J. (Jarosz, I understand it's pronounced "Ja-Rose", even though it's spelled similar to Juarez, which is pronounced like "War-Es". Several of the TV news folks have left for various public info officer or public relations type positions whether airports, school districts, other utility or government agencies, or private industry. I can't remember all the names but the faces I'd recognize (Janine DeLaVega, Winton (?), etc.
The old duration of notice before leaving was typically 2 weeks, but that doesn't give much, if any time, for a business to advertise and do a search for a replacement. It'd be difficult to even line up interviews with only 2 weeks. Some employees might even give 2 months, which is better. Unknown what notice Jarosz gave.
Fox at the NY corporate level has lost several on-air personalities over the years, but many of these might have been let go by corporate itself, some which was dramatized in the movie "Bombshell".
From KNTV aka NBC3 sometimes folks move up to corporate as Vicky Nguyen did, but that would or should have been more controlled being within the same "chain of command" going up to NBC NY.
Best wishes to Brooks Jarosz and wonder how that position works as far as county government benefits, salary, or how well protected might the position be from lay-off. Santa Clara County is fairly large with a few departments which might either need its own public info person or perhaps the entire county could use a team of them.

    1. Did also Elissa Harrington leave KTVU for a public relations job? Also whatever happened to KTVU reporter Dave Daetling?

    2. Great question on Harrington. She was my favorite eye candy at KTVU. Haven’t seen her in a while. Boooo

    3. @ 9:02 he works at the Seattle Fox station. If I remember correctly from his Twitter, he was a freelance reporter for ktvu . I saw him on ktvu though some weeks ago when they did some story for their west coast wrap (I think) about a court case in Tacoma.

    6. Interesting take on the situation. For what its worth, California is an "at will" employment state. Meaning anyone can quit and leave their position at anytime without notice, assuming they are not under contract. Let's remember the tried and true saying about "Trust me... if the employer wanted to get rid of you, they wouldn't give YOU a 2 week notice!"

    7. Harrington is working PR at Keiser…isn’t she married to a trench coat wearing guy also who was at KTVU? His name escapes me grew a porno mustache for a while

  4. Brooks is fantastic and one of the few shining stars at KTVU. Quite likely, the only shining star. And now he's gone. Not shocked at all to see he was scooped by the Sheriff's department. Frankly, I'm surprised at how long he stuck around at ktvu, but it's safe to assume he received and turned down many offers during his time there.
    Best wishes to him.

No it’s not. The industry is in collapse. Very talented people can’t get employed today, and it’s only going to get worse.

  6. My wife works for ktvu and has talked about how universally liked and respected Brooks is. According to her, if someone has a problem with Brooks, they need to look inward because the problem likely lies with them.

  7. Unrelated to this post but still related to Bay Area media...

Rich did you catch the ABC7 basketball postgame show tonight with Larry Beil and Adonal Foyle? Beil devoted the first 1+ segments to remembering the Warriors coach who died last night after suffering a heart attack at a Salt Lake City restaurant. Not sure if Foyle was nervous or awkward or what but he kept giggling and smiling for no reason whatsoever while Beil was being completely serious and professional paying tribute to the coach.

At one point Beil mentioned how difficult it will be for the coach's wife and young children and Foyle is sitting there at the desk looking at the camera smiling and giggling. At another point Beil mentioned many of the Warriors players and staff witnessed the tragedy first hand as CPR was performed at the restaurant. Again, Foyle sat there smiling and giggling. WTF?

It was one of the strangest things I've seen on TV and so off-putting that I finally turned the station.
