Whats with ktvu doing a multi-night prime time interview with Oakland mayor Shung Tao right as talk of a recall is gaining steam? They’re promoting it like crazy as an ‘emotional’ interview. The teasers they keep airing show Tao giving descriptive details about her prior experience as a survivor of domestic violence. Obviously that’s a serious topic and thankfully she escaped that awful situation but that’s not the point of my comment. I’m simply wondering why now all of a sudden ktvu is doing this and promoting it as an emotional interview about her and her background.
You said the Tahoe avalanche was the big story of the day. What about this morning’s funeral of the slain OPD officer? Ktvu covered it wall to wall with three reporters. Kron also aired it. But pix, Disney7, and NBC Bay Area aired regularly programming and barely even mentioned it during their early shows. I’m interested to hear your thoughts on the coverage, and the decision by most stations not to air it and to barely mention it.
KNTV (NBC Bay Area) is my preferred station. I watched their midday and evening newscasts today, and they barely mentioned the funeral. Perhaps it's a territorial thing where KTVU gave it extensive coverage since they're based in Oakland, and it was an Oakland police officer who was killed. I'm guessing that if it were SJPD, then KNTV would've covered it similarly to how KTVU did today.
KCBS should have had Carolyn Burns "AREA" reporting about the traffic in the Lake Tahoe "AREA"...omg Rich, after your blog the other I didn't realize how much Carolyn says "AREA" Santa Cruz Area, Sonoma Area, Oakland Area, Santa Clara Area, Concord Area...

ReplyDelete“Shung Tao?”
DeleteUmm, it's Sheng Thao. But since you brought her up, I'm curious: Am I the only one who thinks she's a big-time babe?
Shamelessness on the part of Thao. But she'll do anything. She makes me ashamed to also live in the Bay Area.
Delete7:21 PM, Yes, you are the only one.

ReplyDeleteWhy do you think they call it a shit show?
ReplyDelete"They have Nothing to report In-market."
So they repeat this out-of-market crap over & over & over.
