Did you see that tripe Bruce "I'm Saving My Job" Jenkins wrote for his column tomorrow? He was spot on talking about the demise of Sports Illustrated, the NY Times and the LA Times. But then he started to kiss the ass of his employer: "I've really come to appreciate the San Francisco Chronicle appearing in my driveway every morning," "The Chronicle still cares," "Extensive local news sustains the daily heartbeat," "It strives to rise above the ordinary." What the hell is he smoking? Food news that deserves top priority? An emphasis on Opinion pieces (no hard muckraking involved)? One columnist who has a hard-on for reparations while his Oakland is burning in hell (Justin Phillips)? Another columnist who has no chops and would rather show her avatar as opposed to her face (Soleil Ho)? Superficial sports interest in everything that isn't tied into the 49ers, Warriors or Giants? I'm letting my online subscription lapse. Even though the LA Times just got hacked by a chef from Benihana, I'd rather read that to get my news. The writing is better and the content has more substance. They even do a better job covering the Bay Area than the Chronicle. Good bye!
"I've really come to appreciate the San Francisco Chronicle appearing in my driveway every morning," "The Chronicle still cares," "Extensive local news sustains the daily heartbeat," "It strives to rise above the ordinary."
The L.A. Times is not a newspaper, it's a woke Marxist opinion piece rag that the owner let his lunatic daughter drive off a cliff and now he's cleaning up the mess she made.
I will say this about Jenkins -- at least he focuses on sports, which he was hired to do. I assume that zero, Scott Ostler was hired to do the same, but thinks he is a political reporter. Who gives a rat's ass about his politics?
Nice to hear Hackney is back. That was also another possibility I was speculating. He did mention many times about his father especially that El NiƱo segment that he did. If he’s 66, his father must be at least 90, so anything would have happened but hopefully he is healthy. I was thinking maybe is it his father or something.
Happy to hear Betty Yu is recovering and returning.
Yet at the same time, I don’t expect Hackney to return to weather, maybe Virtual 3D weather but mostly the team of Heggen, Burch and Peck are doing well there. At the same time lets look at Hackney’s situation as also deserved time off for Christmas/New Years and holidays because in the past (at least the last several years) he has worked the holidays.
Chronicle is a joke!!! Food topics are the hard news to them. No real news unless they want to try to do a biased story against the right. Like San Francisco the Chronicle is a progressive wasteland.
Speaking of KPIX, their male weather anchors look sloppy wearing a traditional suit jacket with jeans. The jackets they wear flare out at the hips and look stupid. If they want to achieve this look they need to opt for a properly tailored sports coat.
That’s Mr. Heggen, nobody else! And if you are wearing a Spring blazer khakis are acceptable. Devin Fehely has a better choice of clothing as an anchor.
Sure would like to know what happened to my buddy Brian, but I refuse to listen to your video blogs. Go back to WRITING. No one wants to watch you on video.
We made it thru January without Brian Hackney, sadly. My expectation is he may return next weekend who knows.
Virtual weather on weekends seems to be a Sunday only thing. I liked the old school weather on Saturday because it was easy to spot the First Alert Day. The tubes don’t do justice. The idea is if we need to know what days are red, show the tubes after showing the main 7 day forecast.
Again any day, I am sure Betty Yu will be back but Hackney, sure but partly I am skeptical
Speaking of illnesses, why doesn't Liz Cook stay home until that nasty cough of hers goes away. It's getting ridiculous - especially in this "post COVID" world. EVERYBODY worth their salt in medicine says, "If you're sick stay home. Don't go to work and spread your germs to your co-workers," etc., etc. Liz has been hacking, like she's going to bring up a lung, for at least two weeks now! Coughing on camera, coughing off camera, coughing in the background while others are speaking/reporting. So annoying not to mention disrespectful of other people's health! LIZ, PLEASE GO HOME AND DON'T RETURN TO PIX UNTIL THE COUGH IS GONE! PLEASE!
On New Year’s day Liz was having a bad voice when transitioning to Paul Heggen (1/1), and even he noticed that despite her childish behavior.
Monday, at 3PM she coughed excessively on air that Darren Peck had to take over the first 2 segments before Ryan Yamamoto did for the rest of the newscast
Geez and all this time I thought Hackney was sipping Mai-Tais on the beaches of Hawai’i.
ReplyDeleteOh the draw of cold hard ca$h.
Brian was busy dodging the 10-pounder that Vince dropped.
DeleteGlad to hear Brian and Betty are OK.

Betty is from Taiwan like Stephanie Lin.
ReplyDeleteRich did you hear SFGate launched an LA bureau this week? Guess we’ll be hearing about even more wet burritos and purple houses.
ReplyDeleteI stopped going to SF(click)Bait a few years back. Haven’t looked back. Nothing but gen z and millennial drivel.

DeleteBetty should be an anchor.
ReplyDeleteShe doesn’t want to be an anchor. It would get in her Instagram life. She makes way more on IG than the news biz.
DeleteBetty Yu has those stupid looking duck ass kardashian lips with all kinds of gunk and fillers in them
ReplyDeleteAgreed. It looks ridiculous and totally unnatural.
Delete@ 8:15 AM And you're probably a fat old man.
Delete8:15, are you surprised? She’s trying to be a social media influencer so she has to follow all the ‘it’ trends of TikTok and Instagram.
DeleteLook at photos of Betty from 6-7 years ago, pre lip fillers. She looks completely difrerent and normal.

ReplyDeleteI donated regularly when Rich wrote the blog. I watched a few videos, but I really dislike the format so no longer hit the PayPal button.
DeleteRich, if you want to listen to Kevin Harlan on 1280am in stockton or 1140am sacramento
ReplyDeleteBailey O'Carroll anchored KTVU's NFC Championship coverage from Levi's Stadium. It appears that she will be heading to Vegas for the Super Bowl.
ReplyDelete@10:13 Bailey did a fine job as with Erin Andrews; both are great looking to boot
DeleteBailey and Erin are fine!

I'm Brian Hackney's hairpiece, and I approve this message.
ReplyDeleteHackney’s not back and now Andrea no longer acknowledges Hackney’s absence. Its just her running the show herself.
