I must have missed Live at Five given I moved to the Bay Area in ‘92. I don’t recall the anchors but KRON seemed quite popular then in the 90s. I remember Pete Wilson and Gary Radnich of course. KRON still had quality broadcasts for some time. We used to watch Marty and Isabelle weekend mornings with Henry Tenenbaum and his side kick wisecracking buddy Buzz teaching us how to garden. Those were the days I agree. Real people we could relate to. Like the nostalgia Rich for us older folks but probably those younger could not care less.
Are most people so fascinated about the people in media these days and the good or bad about them? Are you going to make a living off that alone? Since you have done this for 20+ years I suppose but I don’t recall the begging for dollars in the past so much. Maybe this was your side hustle until recently? I would be more interested in the people knowing what is going on behind the scenes with local politics and city services including law enforcement like in Oakland which the media personalities report on almost every night such as the latest shootings and side shows. You could be a conduit for anonymous tips on why nothing ever changes there in your Oakland and SF. Why would I care who Mark Ibanez not even in media anymore is meeting up with (or worse) in some bar somewhere? Good for him I guess. I would rather you be the first to report from a city informant of possible corruption or incompetence. That could actually improve the quality of our lives.
9:17 PM - I agree. I don't have much interest in local media and I don't watch it anymore, but I would like to know more about local politics, incl things like why the City of Oakland lost out on millions in state funding recently, apparently because they didn't even file the paperwork.
