Further Embarrassment at KCBS; Sunday Re-Airing ...And Re-Airing...of Old Interviews --Billed as "New" "In-Depth" Show; The Titanic at 740 AM/106.9 FM

ARE YOU SERIOUS?
Just plain sad and pathetic at KCBS --it gets worse every day.

Just a week after they REPEATED the same, alleged "new" "In Depth" Sunday Show,

Yesterday, they did one better...

KCBS again ran the same show again! Now two weeks old and more REHASHED, OLD interviews that were actually just old/taped interviews by Eric Thomas and Margie Shafer.

Let me run that by you again: KCBS REHASHED MORE REHASH! And to further alienate its dwindling listerner base, it presented this as a new, "In-Depth" show.

Maybe they simply DON'T CARE anymore? Pronto!

Maybe they realize there's NO ACCOUNTABILITY? Bingo!

Maybe news boss, Jenny seelig, gets away with so much crap, she's just maintaining the usual SOP with no flack from Audacy? Pronto and bingo!

The ship is sinking fast.

  2. They don't care. Local ad sales have plummeted. It's all national spots, even outside the hourly network news. So i suspect the plan is to have a national CBS News Radio channel with local inserts twice an hour. A staff of maybe two or three can record these inserts, and that will be the extent of local news. They'll roll this out to CBS/Audacy AM stations nationwide and save a fortune. Perfect cost-cutter for a bankrupt company.

  4. Someone should take an "In Depth" look up someone's A$$ to see what the hell is going on with this once stellar radio station.

  7. I read about the In-Depth situation on your blog yesterday from a post. Thank you so much for highlighting it again as it is a huge issue. In Depth was great, one of the few bright spots on KCBS but now it too is finished and with the terrible decision to bring over the awful people from the failed KGO KCBS has nothing original, just inaccurate traffic and once you hear the weather, you do not need to hear it again. But being the only game in town they will survive but a shell of what they once were.

  8. Their new demographic must be dementia patients with short-term memory loss. Or, perhaps that's management?

  9. They seem to be doing less live interviews and just do a repeat of a taped story (Jim Taylor at a lotto store or pickle ball….wow). Agree with earlier posts. It’s beating a dead horse repeating the s**Tahoe daily errors. I accept it sucks and tune in mostly for weather and traffic

  10. This is like several jobs I had. The talented folks who are the best of the best leave because they want to retire. They did their time.
Their replacements are not as good and will never be good as the old guard. They do not have the same characteristics.

  12. The demise of legacy radio stations KSFO, KNBR, KCBS, and KGO is alarming, but terrestrial radio is dead.

  13. Nobody thought to ask Keith Menconi how to run the In Depth recording machine.
