Julie Haener's KTVU Run Nearing Sunset Stage

What started out in earnest last Summer, is now only a matter of time at KTVU to actual resolution and the staff is ready for its eventual outcome.

Julie Haener will exit KTVUafter decades of anchoring. The core4 will lose its key anchor --a Bay Area fixture.

"It's pretty much accepted that Julie will leave --she's got all the money and she's done everything here, we know it," a KTVU source told me the other day. While rumors have been rampant about this taking place, now the talk at Jack London Square is just when, not if.

Haener has a multitude of events taking place in her life--her KTVU gig seems to be on the back burner, almost an afterthought. Haener's been so busy her anchor duties are secondary--she's taken quite a bit of time off.

She has a son playing quarterback at Freson State--Jake Haener has NFL aspirations.

Haener is Danville society club topic A and she seems to enjoy the attention too. She'll have a lot of time to devote to her friends in the valley once her KTVU reign ends--any day now.

  1. She’s on the ‘Greg Liggins’ schedule. Or maybe Greg is on the ‘Julie Haener’ schedule. The one where you work 2 days per week yet inexplicably feel entitled to get whatever you want despite your laziness.

    1. Greg is freelance. By design freelancers work part time. What a stupid comparison.

    3. This morning, 1/30/23, I heard the Lunar/Chinese New Year parade KTVU hosts to be Mibach & C. Wong for 2/4/23; no mention of J. Haener (or Ben Fong-Torres). Some of you probably already new this but I had not seen or heard anything on KTVU until now.

  3. 10:50 "Good riddance" is uncalled for, juvenile, hateful and hurtful. How does this contribute to the good of society?

    1. You’re right. When her replacement works a normal 5 day work week without missing 80% of their shifts then yeah, we will say they ain’t no Julie Haener, and it’ll be a nice compliment.

    1. Mark is in heaven - he not only has Haener but he's got a sweet gig every Monday on KSRO radio (1350) dishing sports trivia and all the wine he can drink (if Jaxxon leaves him some)...

  6. Next stop. "Real Housewives of Danville". Filming to commence shortly after her departure from KTVU.

    2. I was thinking about her attire. There are times when I really like what she's wearing and very attractive; then there are times when it reminds me of what the movie character, Austin Powers, might wear from the "Mod" days of the 1960s.

  11. Jake is probably a low round selection. He's one of the top-10 QBs available, but that's not saying much for this year's draft. However, mom will draw attention from the ESPN/NFL Network cameras in many ways.

  12. She had a good run but the sun set on her career a while ago. She’s paid her dues and hope she enjoys her retirement.

  13. There's no chemistry at KTVU anymore. You can feel it. It's palpable. Julie was best with her mentor Dennis Richmond and later Frank. Now I just watch her with Mike Mibach and cringe. And I hate dumping on Mibach. But he was best left on the dayshift. Another Amber Eikel misstep. Don't know how you right this ship. Take care, Jules. It was a good run.

Best on-air chemistry in the Bay Area still lies with ABC 7 at all news hours. I've watched them all. Although Juliette Goodrich does a good job flying solo at six. They should pair her with Reed Cowan. He's not bad at all. Some personalities are just likable. Others not so much.

  14. Agree with the poster who digs Reed Cowan.

  15. Rich I really enjoy your posts but I’ve notice many, if not most, of the comments are negative in nature.
Your blog would be much more enjoyable and would attract more readers if you would censor any comments that are even remotely negative. Whether it be negative about a person or a station, I’d like to see those vanish from your site.
