Jim Cantore and Kyla Grogan Spotted at Original Joe's --No High Pressure System

MY SPY was RIGHT THERE on Wednesday night: Jim Cantore and KRON's Kyla Grogan were spotted at Original Joe's in North Beach with a group of buds.

Cantore has been in Northern Cal covering the crazy weather and his one-time colleague from The Weather Channel, Grogan, were enthusiastic seatmates at the posh eatery.

My spy noted there was no romantic interludes between the two, just good old friends enjoying a break from the storm deluge and they deserve it.

I've been a Cantore fan since h

is early days and he not only knows weather, he's passionate and genuine in his demeanor. The same for KRON's Grogan, a budding star who KTVU let get away, a not-so-brilliant move.

  1. Jim Cantore has pelotas the size of Pumpkins.Watching him deliver, in great detail..the horrendous conditions smack dam in the middle of a Cat 5 Hurricane. Kyla is the best and wouldn't mind seeing more of her behind the anchor desk.

  3. Jim Cantore has a solid relationship with a nice female weather forecaster who used to work with him at The Weather Channel, but, now works at CNN broadcasting their weather as a fill-in meteorologist. Her name is Britley Ritz. They can both be found on Instagram. Plus he has a lot of great fellow meteorologist friends out here in the Bay Area and Sacramento that he knows that are close friends of his out here besides Kyla Grogan. So like you said,Rich, he would not do anything to jeopardize his relationship with Britley while he is out here.

  4. I'll tell you who is doing a great job covering the apocalypse down here in Monterey. KSBW(where I had my first tv news job fifty years ago) has reporters scrambling to cover all the damage and forecasts and likelihood of the Salinas River during the area into an island. True, it's a much smaller area to cover, but they are doing it right with timely information saving lives. kudos.

    1. I agree Christine! I lived in the Monterey Bay Area in the 1970’s through the 1990’s. For a small market Hearst station, they dominate their competition as the local News leader. I remember watching Leslie Griffith, Allen Martin, Joe Fonzi, Len Ramirez and you back in the day.

    3. Christine, I forgot that George Watson and the great Suzanne Saunders Shaw worked at KSBW. This station outshines some San Francisco Bay Area stations with less resources. FWIW, I had a crush on you back in the day. 😘

    4. In the 90s, KSBW's transmitter was on a mountain close enough to San Jose that I watched it in preference to KRON. One of their news anchors was the delectable Dina Ruiz. But the elderly Clint Eastwood swept her off her feet, and she was gone. Another thing I liked on KSBW was the idiosyncratic Fishmasters show, which followed SNL

  5. When I worked for the Washington Examiner the slogan below the masthead was: "When it comes to misinformation we scoop everybody". Speaking of scoops we're still waiting for the one dealing with a certain Thurston...

  8. Just watching Kyla on KRON makes me think what the heck is wrong with "the Firm" KTVU and I also notice KRON just hired a new sports anchor in Erin Wilson. She gotta a nice smile and humor too could be another KRON up and coming talent...

  10. I realize it would never happen but how would you like to be out having a harmless meal with a nice looking woman and some jerk sends his "spy" out to watch what you're up to?

  11. A contact just happened to be at the restaurant at the time Cantore/Grogan was dining--I used the term "spy" --the contact didn't make a scene and in fact, I discovered, was considerate and cool. No issues from anybody including Cantore and Grogan specifically.

    1. They’re co-workers. Men and women can have friendships without it all being about sex.

  12. Hi Rich: Why does Andre Senior still continue to get a Mr. T Style haircut every few weeks. This morning I tuned into KTVU Mornings On Two & lo & behold Andre just got a fresh Mr. T. Style Haircut which not only is bad 1980's retro it looks ridiculous on him as he has a very full round face. Will any of the big KTVU honchos like Amber finally have the courage to tell him that not only is his haircut outdated but it makes him look silly & awful. 14. What would be in anyone's opinion the best local news station to work at? For some reason it looks like KRON4 has the best environment to be at amongst the 5 local news channels.
