Hey KGO , You Want To Move The Needle? Hire Michael Savage

TUESDAY OPEN...

This won't happen--it should.

KGO Radio should hire Michael Savage.

It would be a bold move. It would shake up Bay Area radio. It would move the needle en fuego for KGO. Talk about jolt!

Savage is conservaive but he's also liberal on many subject matters. I say, "who cares?" Savage supercedes politics. He's a master at radio. He's a great communicator.

You know what? I probably disagree with him on a majority of issues but I'd sure as hell give a listen and so would many of you.

This is a no-brainer. Of course it is ...too bad it won't happen.

  1. If he'd quit telling everyone how brilliant he is, maybe.

    1. It works for Trump and Gavin, and it worked for Al Davis, Howard Cosell, and Muhammad Ali. Then again, not so much for Gary Radnich and Christine Craft.

  2. Excellent Idea. But as you intimated it would make sense so it would not happen. I agree with your analysis of him. He is opinionated but also fair and very knowledgeable .

    1. I don't think Michael Savage is fair, he can be at times. I liked to listen to him when he talked music, especially jazz and animals. Most of the time he blamed every ill on democrats, although he had harsh words for republicans as well. He is too negative, and don't get along well with others.

  3. Why not just hire Trump?

      But not inaccurate.

    1. 11:08am, a bully is a society that wants mandate the rich giving to the poor vs, providing incentives, preferably faith based, to do so

    2. 11:42,

The vast majority of faith-based organizations are rich, and they give to the poor. Does that make them bullies?

    3. 11:42,, read my post "dork or dorks"

  6. Nope. I wouldn’t listen to that d-bag.

  7. Why???
Because he had such a great experience the last time he was syndicated with Cumulas in 2012...and on KSFO?
Are you forgetting local broadcast history.

  8. Love Savage, but he's half the man he was just 5 years ago. Health maybe?

  9. Is he available to host the 49er pre and postgame shows? Asking for a friend.

  10. If they want an interesting, knowledgeable host on KGO, hire Phil Matier away from KCBS.

    1. They might if they could untangle him from Willie Brown. Those two are like Trump and Putin.

  11. I haven't listened to KGO at all for years, but I'd listen.

  12. He’s old and a Billionaire now. Why in the hell would he work for idiots ?

  13. Re-hire A&G, dump Nikkiiiii

    ReplyDelete

    1. A&G is on KSFO, no need for them to be on both stations, as well as Sacramento which a lot of Bay Area can get. Perhaps someone else instead of Niki, l think Chip Franklin would have been better.

  14. M Savage seemed very disturbed by John McCain's bizarre interest in the pre-Sochi Winter Olympics Ukraine, that's for sure. Wonder if he's changed his mind?

  15. It won't happen because KGO has no interest in the classic talk radio days. They are content with Thompson slap stick and medoro up talk.

    1. They should save money and just play Bozo the Clown reruns from the 1950s.

  16. Just saw Suzanne Phan reporting in the newsroom on KGO’s 4pm newscast. I’m guessing the deal with her at KPIX failed and her anchor husband couldn’t strike a deal….

    1. Just because someone is married does not mean that they don't negotiate their own deals. You are in the wrong century+.

  17. He would have zero advertisers and he’s a very low energy person. They used to have to record most of his show and replay because he could only last like an hour. Maybe get an Allen Ginsburg clone to rub up against him and it’ll motivate him?

  18. I'm wondering what the chances are of group of people fresh from broadcasting school take over all KGO Radio time slots. New voices, faces and topics. Might be interesting...

    1. Nobody goes to broadcast school.

  19. Michael Savage is seriously unhinged. He says outrageous things just to get a reaction and “buzz.” Intelligent, interesting conversation rarely exists on local or national radio anymore. Guys like Savage,Hannity or the late pompous windbag Limbaugh were out on the air by local stations who didn’t want to provide public service to
Local communities. They replaced the local announcers with national shows such as the aforementioned because it was all about saving $$$. Most media DOES NOT serve the public anymore, especially right wing shills FOX and Newsmaxx, both
laughable names for media Companies. No wonder so many Americans are dumbed down. They get their national news from carnival barkers such as Savage who are
Merely parrots of other dint-wit ignorant people.
The late Pete Franklin was the sports version of Savage but he was talking only about sports, the toy Dept of life, not important national mattes. Savage.spews crap, sensationalizes or pushes
embarrassing nonsense like his hero, the autocrat-wanna be with the orange hair and the fake tan,

    1. You are spot on. The damage corporate right wing radio has done to this country is beyond irreparable. And it’s all by design too. Dumb it down. Divide and conquer. Keep the same male patriarchy in effect. That’s the goal. I’m so over talk radio. Not much is really local anymore. All outsourced to these syndicated blowhards trying to be the next Rush Limbaugh. And getting paid quite nicely I might add.

Satellite radio isn’t much better with Spotify and Joe Rogan. Anyone who thinks that guy is worth 200 million dollars to spout his ridiculous nonsensical take on things is truly a fool.

Turned it all off with the exception of a little local flavor from Pat Thurston and John Rothman from time to time. In the 90s my favorite talk show host was Tom Leykis at KFI in LA. Liberal leaning proud atheist who let dumb callers be keenly aware of their stupidity. The best! Those days have gone the way of protest song. Non existent. Any wonder why there are so many morons walking the country these days? They don’t want us to wise up. Because then we would rise up.

    2. The damage corporate right wing radio has done to this country is beyond irreparable.

I think you meant left. I know it gets confusing at your age.

      Delete
    3. Only fifty and not confused one bit. If by left you mean left wing radio, there is no such thing. They tried that with Air America and that was a complete failure. The right wing corporate elites in radio have a lock on bottling up their right wing talking points and pouring out that poison on the streets of middle America through talk radio. Medal of Freedom joke Rush Limbaugh was their leader for decades. Barf. Mediocrity abounds amongst certain men.

If you mean the left in general then…wrong again!! At least the left is attuned to the needs of everyday people while the right only cares about the powerful and elite. And privilege for some. Profits before humanity. And WS above all else. The American way!!! And look at the state of the world today as a result.

But I’m not going to argue anymore about left and right because that’s exactly what they want. Like I said before it’s all about divide and conquer. While the rich laugh all the way to their next tax break. They’ve shown us who they are time and time agin. and I believed them, the first time. Fomenting a civil war while contributing to a climate on the brink of collapse being just two examples. And electing a fool like Drumpf being the icing on the cake. Enjoy those mudslides and wildfires. The party’s just begun, Barbie.

Profits. Profits. Profits…Amidst slave wages. Hope hoarding all their billions was worth it cuz they sure can’t take it with them. And the future generations they’ve passed their precious generational wealth to will look back at the mess they’ve created with complete and utter disdain.

    4. Each side think the other has damaged the country. I tend to agree that right wing radio has helped to divide the country, and helped to elect Trump. However, the right is constantly wining about the left leaning media, meaning MNSBC, CNN, ABC, etc. of course they have Fox, Newsmax, but they act like those right wing outlet don't exsist. I'm not for one minute suggeting there should be a ban on right wing radio, but I wish it was more balanced, and I wish the right wing could be a little more balanced. Sean Hannity it a hypocrit of the highest order, if Obama had done just half of what Trump has done, we would never heard the end of it.

"Climb Every Mountain!" (a great song, by the by!)

    2. I use to listen to Tom Leykis once in awhile, at times I found him funny and entertaining, but got tired of him. My favorites are still Gene Burns, and most other hosts from KGO's hayday, fortunately some of them can still be heard on KGO.
