The "Chip and Nikki Show" on KGO Radio Requires Hammer Time

KGO RADIO is deadsville. We already know that. It's been that way for years, so why bother even caring anymore? I agree. But I'm a hopeless romantic.

Beyond the day, morning, noon and night, KGO is a desert with no hope, no inspiration. No water. Nobody's home. The vast majority of KGO's shows have all the authenticity of a Walnut Creek Chevron. There is no there, there, thanks Gertrude Stein.

Most awful, save for a schmucky sub host, KGO is at its worst from 6-10 AM. I hear Nikki Medoro is quite a nice woman but she's AWFUL in the morning. Medoro can't drive the car. She needs help. I know the answer. In fact, a KGO producer told me my idea makes total sense but that Lee Hammer, (KGO's PD) wouldn't consider it because the idea is mine. The producer begged me not to name their name because the person would probably be sent to Lodi for punishment or worse, have to listen to Chris Merrill.

Yo, Lee, get this.

Nikki needs an assist.. She has a chance to score big time. My idea, I've said this before: Make it a WINNER: make it "Chip (Franklin) and Nikki." It would move the needle. Chip loves Nikki and Nikki loves Chip. It's a show even I'd LISTEN to and you know, Lee, I'm picky. But here's the deal, Hammer, in order to make this work, you have to check your EGO. You too, Nikki, you have to believe in the new missive. You all know this is a winner because Chip can talk a good game, so too Nikster. They've both worked together. It was dynamite terrestrial radio and IT WORKED because Chip was argumentative and Nikki was a good foil. It moved the needle in the afternoon and it would make a cool listen-to in afternoon drive, you know that Lee.

Chip is irritating but he's also interesting too. A team player. He could bitch and moan and Nikki can nuance him. Nikki can talk all she wants about her kids and complain about climate change and Chip can opine about toe fungus. Maybe even do a spot too about toe fungas, after all, Chip hardly ever does spots so it would be just a natural. Nikki can be his radio wife and they could both do domestic relations on the air. The Bay Area would unite. Imagine that for a moment.

OK, to be serious, look Hammer, this is a brazen idea. I know it requires creativity. You have it, Lee, sure, I know you ultimately would nix the idea because you'd have to admit that Rich was its creator, but that the vast KGO audience would eat it alive. Then you'd be overwhelmed and have to at least consider it. You'd kill two birds with one stone. You'd have a BUZZ-uber, killer morning show and you could then fill the afternoon drive spot with your buddy, Merrill. Ok, so you'd have to find money,so tell Cumulus to send cash. Tell 'em you hired a new Irish host whose white and 45 and they'll buy it. It'll be a piece of cake.

Hammer, KGO is cratering faster than a Jon Gruden-Hillary Clinton ticket in '24. You need to make this a go. It has my support. The Bay Area is ready, Lee, but are you? Hammer time.
