Mark Tamayo poised to take over for Steve Paulson on KTVU 'Mornings on Two' Weather Gig

WHEN Steve Paulson retires from the Morning Weaaather gig on KTVU's "Mornings on Two" (MO2) --any day now, Mark Tamayo will become the regular weather guesser to REPLACE Paulson and take over, a few sources tell 415 Media.

THIS ISN'T exactly earth-shaking news, but it is news nonetheless. Tamayo, who has filled in just about everywhere on KTVU's various time slots has been positioing for a fulltime job and he seems the perfect candidate for the highly-rated MO2 position, still one of KTVU's most popular shows and a consistent leader in the Bay Area TV News morning platforms.

    1. Actually, his name is Mark Tamayo and he a damned good meteorologist. Solid, no run on sentences, no bells and whistles, no b.s., just straight up solid weather reports.

    3. He straight up looks like he's 12. And from what Rich wrote before - has to stand on a box to be camera height. TV is so glamorous.

  2. Mark is great. Loved the time a bird on Sutro Tower interrupted his broadcast. The follow-up segment where Mark visited the tower to learn more about the birds was so cool. He's a good guy.
Now if Steve could just take his buddy Sal with him... who else doesn't care about their boring opinions? Sal's voice is always my cue use the remote.

  3. Speaking of aging weathercasters even though he doesn't look it KGO Channel 7's Spencer Christian just celebrated his 74th B-Day last month! What a long & distinguished career both with Good Morning America & KGO 7. Good for Spencer! Speaking of folks who need to retire much sooner than later is another KTVU "Mornings on Two" team member Dave ( I'm a very good friend of O.J Simpson's) Clark. He joined Channel 2 in 2007 when he was in the his mid to late 50's so 14 years later Dave Clark must be in his late 60's or very early 70's. Even after all these years Dave Clark still cannot adlib worth a damn. Keep up your great work Rich!!

Thank God it won’t be Rosemary Fecesco. Absolutely horrid person.

    1. 9:15pm: Perfectly stated. She used to be somewhat easy on the eyes but yikes, she isn’t aging well. She looks like a ghoul. I’d say that her botox injector needs to lose their medical license, though I doubt they have one based on Rosemary Fecesco’s ghoulish look.

  7. A very good selection. Mark Tamayo has an excellent screen presence and is a top-notch meteorologist. He also seems to be a good team player in the KTVU universe. Bravo!

  8. This causes some interesting questions. First, is Kyla still poised to be Martin's replacement at night? Does that leave Rosemary to the Siberia of tv news - morning weekends? Or does she move on to another station (where?) or back to Sacramento?

More importantly, how dcan Heather Holmes exploit this turmoil in order to complete her decade-long quest to be a prime anchor?

  9. I vote YES on Kyla at night. How much longer do we have to wait? Martin is slow walking out that door.

  10. Tamayo is smart, professional and passionate about what he does. He's a great choice for this, and early kudos to him if this is the case.

  11. Worked with Steve when he was "The WX Doc" with KICU TV36 News at 10, in the early 90's. A good guy and always enjoyed his banter around the shop. When the news ops folded he found air time doing weather coverage in other television news markets outside of California. When he finally made it back to the SF TV market in the mid-2000's it was as if he never left. Glad to hear that he's finally made it to retirement and on to another chapter in his life.

  12. Why does Steve Paulson gets to work from home and and I noticed that he ONLY works 4 days/week? Everyone else has to go to the studio, seems only right that he does to.
