Also a founding record label owner with Jerry Moss, Alpert knew when to be a strong hands-on record producer. One trumpet-fitting example is his work with The Carpenters. Herb Alpert, musical brilliance.
Herb Alpert was not known for his singing, but he did one song in 1969 that fit him like a glove. It was "This Guy's In Love With You", music by Bacarach. Having a non pro singer do it, added to the credibility. This song came out around the same summer as another solo classic "Is That All There Is" by Miss Peggy Lee.
Another classic thanks to DJ Rich!
