*Westwood One News will cease operations August 30th...
*Cumulus (which owns Westwood One) to lay off 3% of its entire staff (furloughed) most of those in the promotions line of work but could involve all positions, "including on-air personnel."
*A video was played today at SF Cumulus(Thursday) --it involved CEO/Pres Mary Berner outlining the layoffs and explaining the "dire situation."

Perhaps back to ABC News for KGO radio. ABC has a very limited presence now in major markets. Whaddya think?

DeleteRothmann is having a tough night tonight and his fans might want to bail him out. He’s had a number of callers who probably told the screener that they agree with him, and then when they get on the air, they are arguing with him, and he’s very surprised by this. So he does the typical Rothmann thing: Instead of having an interesting debate, he talks over them and turns down their audio. Does KGO have a program director or some coach who can help hosts like him? I really feel sorry for a guy who is trying so hard but comes off so poorly on the air.

DeleteThere is no debating these fools. The present all of their arguments as "faith based" belief. Facts and critical thinking skills are never present in these calls.
