  1. Are Paulie Mac and BJ finally going to stop polluting Bay Area airwaves? If so, this could be an unexpected positive side effect of the coronavirus.

    1. Gees I hope so. Can I say that? Yeah, I just did and thanks for asking.

  2. How can we get the word to local financial broadcasters that plural of “index” is “indices” not “indexes”? While we’re at it who can get the word to Madam Mayor that the word is “underlying” not “underlining”?

  3. Is that you or John Rothmann in the picture? Btw, he had nice things to say about you on the air a few nights ago.

  4. Hi Rich,
You tell us all the time that the reason we have such poor “talent” on our airwaves is that no one is making any money. Are NYC and LA the only Media Markets that pay anything? THX.

    1. Well, they pay in the Bay Area too, just not the way they used t; only a few years ago, Dennis Richmond, Pete Wilson, were making close to $!M or close to that; now, although $600K is good money for anyone, it's nowhere near a Top 10 market would have commanded.

NY has multiple top anchors making big dough as a #1 market would and should --LA surprisingly is not in that conversation anymore.

  5. Hey Rich,
Any update on Ralph Barbieri these days? He was really one of a kind and must listen radio. I think I heard him ask some questions at a Warriors finals press conference a while back. Too bad he is not on the air or podcasts, just to give his opinion on a few things. Thanks for all you do!

    1. Thanks Jeff, Ralph is retired and living in Marin with his son, Tate. Miss him like you do...thanks for your kind words.

    2. OMG, Jeff! Are you related to Ralph? Never want to hear him again on the local airwaves. The overwhelming memory
of Ralph is ripping Barry Bonds when he was with the Pirates and then shamelessly kissing his ass when the Giants acquired him. Pathetic!!

  6. I'm thankful I got to see Heather Holmes broadcasting from home this evening. I'm that much closer to her bedroom!

  7. Did Susan Kennedy survive the KCBS purge?

  8. How come no one ever calls out KGO and KSFO when they allow flat out lies from their major advertisers? Example, it would seem 10% or more of all spots are from Balance of Nature. In those spots and weekend infomercials they state wildly exaggerated lies. Not the exaggerated normal claims but a flat bold faced lie.
Ripping off KGO and KSFO listeners.
Clearest example on every single spot... that a daily serving, 6 capsules is equal to 10 servings of fruits and veggies.
Follow the details of the fraud.
-Daily serving (6 capsules) is total 4.8 grams.
-Veggie and fruits average no more than 90% water.
-Meaning 4.8 grams is derived from 48 grams of actual veggies/fruits. (1.7 ounces, or less than 1/2 cup of broccoli)
-Their lie is clearly stating therefore that 48 grams of fruits and veggies is equal to 10 servings.
Yet any examination (Google) of servings of various veggies and fruits show average servings are at a minimum 48 grams.
So they are, at best, giving buyers ONE single serving while promising customers TEN servings... or "more than 10 servings"

So.. we have a outright lie...no different than a local grocer selling a dozen eggs...only to have customers open the carton at home and finding only ONE egg.

Do we... purely to keep KGO and KSFO on the air, ignore the straight out lie... the fraud... broadcast to their listeners?
When and how can KGO, KSFO, be called out for allowing flat fraudulent lies to be broadcast to their "listener family"..
Good God, they even run the ads on Michael Finny's "Consumer Talk" hours on Saturday.
Hypocrisy for hosts to scream about horrible big business when their own shows are promoted with clear lies...intent on suckering in their faithful listeners.
Even worse when some of the host read (tape) the ads themselves.

  9. I don't think the station is responsible for whatever the advertisers are claiming. The consumer need to do their own research. I doubt Michael Finney has any say in who advertise on his show. Also these things are hard to disapprove, I'm sure you will find those who say Balance of Nature works for them. I did notice they stopped advertising for "My Pillow" after there was a lawsuit against the owner. Look what happened to that owner he got to share the podium with President Trump and do his plug for God.

  10. Rich, did you hear that Ronnnnn is getting an extra half hour on Fridays? They've been plugging it on KGO the last few days. So he's gone from a 3 hour show for over 40 years, to a 1 hour show, to a 10 minute segment, down to a 5 minute blurb, now an added half hour on Fridays. Good God, just put this dying horse out of its misery.

  12. So....what's happened to Susan Leigh Taylor on KCBS mornings? Her co-anchor, Stan Bunger, did clarify that she was out THE WEEK BEFORE LAST, on a regularly scheduled week off. But she was off all of last week also, and nothing at all was said about that. You previously reported (erroneously, I believe!) that she was retiring....but nothing about that either. What's up??
