Saturday Live Blogging on 415 Media; Ronn Owens (Weed) Report; KCBS Fake Traffic Reports on Friday Night

How to Live Blog for Links and Notoriety | Thrive Business Marketing

SATURDAY REPORT...

I'LL BE LIVE-BLOGGING TODAY, Saturday, if you'd like to ask media questions and/or just make observations --yes, the virus coverage is game, of course it is if you've been watching and listening to news-talk radio and all-news outlets.

Before all this, a few takes and news from yours truly..

*Heard the 30-min, "Ronn Owens Report" on Friday (last night) and was laughing out loud; why? It was Owens having what amounted to a free half-hour conversation with some guy touting weed to make it through coronavirus --WEED?! Fine, and just what I wanted to hear. Laughable, comical. yeah, just what the doctor ordered. KGO has been getting high marks here of late, justifiably so, but last night's farce was downright crazy and out of place.

*Ronn? Oh, never mind.

*KCBS running fake, taped traffic reports on Friday night? I heard Ted Ramey doing what seemed like, PSAs for Cal Trans every ten minutes. I soon began to gather it in: KCBS, which let almost 10 traffic/weather staffers go (virus pandemic cutbacks) decided to give the impression a "live" traffic report was being broadcast; it was NOT. Good way to keep the newsroom morale smart and happy.

  1. I almost fell off my chair the other day listening to Doctor Savage. He was bemoaning the fact that Trump’s incompetence is being exposed and criticized. This is the same doctor savage who criticized Obama for literally EVERYTHING! Do you think Savage’s countless trips to Mar La Cago have altered his opinion of Trump? Is he just now another blind follower of the cult leader?

    1. Look, for someone who has a big IN with POTUS Trump, at least has the balls to rip him now and then and he DOES rip. Arae there times when I'd like to hear him rip more? Yeah, but it's a fine line. Still like Savage because he's NO Hannity or Rush and Levine whom all just kiss Trump behind no matter what.

    2. That is so true, I'm not a fan of Savage, but he has been critical of Trump on several occasions, while still saying he will vote for him because the alternative is worse. Not only are Hannity, Rush and Levine all in for Trump, they are also in denial about how serious the virus is, or at least were. I think Hannity has kind of come around, from the little I heard of Levin and Rush they have not. Levin was complaining about the stimulus package, didn't understand why small business needed money since no one can go there. Rush, at least the recap from the previous week, was wondering why no one had not doing the same with SARS, his conclusion, because Obama was President. So he avoided the issue and somehow manage to bring up Obama, how many years is he going to go back to the Obama years, I guess it depends on how long he (Rush) lives.

  2. Why does kCBS bore us with sports reports twice an hour? Hasn't anyone told them there is no sports going on now and no one cares?

  3. Hey Rich, Man! I was wondering if I am the only person who is really tired of seeing Gov Newsom get on TV every day at Noon, when the local news is supposed to come on, and basically just stand up there making the people more panicky with his words? I am just as interested in what is going on with Covid19 as anyone else, but I don't need to see his posturing and trying to look good for videos he is obviously making for his presidential run in 2024. Same thing goes for that Breed, London, and her own press conferences where she stands up there basically thanking people, who are standing right behind her, and then, each of them gets up and thanks everyone again. It is like they are all patting themselves on the back instead of actually DOING something.

    1. Dear 10:28, All of these pressers from the top down can get tiresome. Here's a clue for you. No one makes you watch any of them. Don't be a masochist if you can't handle them.

    2. Well, it is their job to tell us what they're doing and presumable, how they're making us feel safer and informed. But yeah, they are politicians and they're running for higher office down the road (Cuomo) -it's a nagging optic. Just look at now the Trump pressers which have turned into campaign rallies. Call it a sign of the times.

    3. 10:28 I feel the same about Trump's marathon press conferences, usually the break into the Pat Thurston's show and even my other go to show in that time slot, Tom Sullivan from Sacramento. I find something else to listen to. It seems to me that in crisis like this Governor's, Mayor's and President's grab the spotlight, and if the were silent, some would be upset with that as well. It is hard to win when you are a politician. Someone is always going to disagree with your actions.

  4. I was away from the blog for a few weeks and stopped checking regularly when comments were not getting through. Yesterday I noticed someone mention that Stan was gone again. I had noticed him running roughshot over the comments for a few weeks. Same with fake genitalia name/ass guy that seemed to be trolling daily. Now they both appear to be gone. I guess I'll ask ...what happened with Stan? I went and looked and he's complaining about being blocked here again and you can find his work over at the EBT. Sometimes life comes at you hard Stan, grab a Snickers.

Let me grab some popcorn while you fill me in.

    2. Stan isn't complicated, he is mental.

    3. Yea but we're supposed to look after our seniors. I've gotten into it with him multiple times but he really only sets me off with the white racist stuff. Keep it cool Stan, stay in the family.

    1. Andre Senior of KTVU --now if only KTVU could fix the horrible sound. Senior is relaxed and comfortable --can't say the same about the others I've seen.

  7. Does anyone on radio in SF (local origination) run their own board these days (college stations excepted) or does everyone on the air do it with the assistance of a engineer/call screener? Is anyone the sole soul in that station when they're on the air?

  8. Why was darya on KRON this morning? I’ve never seen her work weekends before?

    1. Maybe she was bored.
Truthfully, I have no idea but KRON needs all the help it can get.

    2. KRON said that they have special work hours now, so the anchors are working two days on and two days off. Darya was on last weekend too for the same reason.

  9. Is Ted Ramey of KCBS radio related to the late Wanda Ramey of KPIX TV?

    1. Ted Ramey (who I like) is the son of former KCBS sports anchor, Hal Ramey. I do know if there's relation to Wanda Ramey.

  10. Hi Rich: I haven't see "GAME On" Hair Twirler Veronica De La Cruz on KPIX 5 going on 3 weeks now. Is she once again not feeling well, "pregnant" or having child care issues. Is she on the chopping block to be let go by KPIX? Thank you for your wonderful blog Rich!

    1. Probably all of the above combined with the fact no one watches "Gaaaaaaqme on" these days. Wait a minute, no one has ever watched.

  11. In 1956 Korla Pandit moved to San Francisco and performed on San Francisco's KGO-TV.
Is there any chance during these troubled times that KGO-TV will bring back a comparable instrumental artist to sooth our souls, possibly on the weekends?

    1. Probably not because only 7 people would watch. Sorry to be harsh but only 7 people from the current 22 is not helpful.

  12. Since KCBS initiated their layoffs a bad product got worse. I'd rather listen to KQED
