No Local TV Coverage Has Grabbed my Attention

Cable TV and Coronavirus: How Americans perceive the outbreak and ...

Common question to me: "Has anything, any station, stood out in the Coronavirus Pandemic coverage?" Not really, nothing in particular. I've watched so much cable and local it all seems the same. That's no knock, just that when you watch too much everything is kind of a blur.

As the days go by I'll try to watch more local and less cable. One thing I have done more is to listen to radio. KGO a lot and KCBS secondary. KQED and NPR have been just OK. I've canceled out the sports-talk radio shows only a few that I will check just out of habit. Music, jazz on KCSM is a good break.

  1. I see Sam Brock and Vicky Nguyen covering Covid stories nationally for NBC...and doing a good job too...:)

  2. I think we need an award for best remote set up for all those working from home. Maybe a new Emmy category for 2020? Take a look around Rich, and tell us what you think, morning noon and night.

  3. It's all been so generic and me-too. It's like they're all copying off of each other's papers. No one stands out and no one seems to want to stand out. The bland leading the bland.

  4. All the stations have reverted back to the 50 year old 'half people' format, horrible, boring...viewer discretion is advised.

How about an awards show to give out an award to the best award show.

In this time of need I suggest you and others read the book, 'Heaven is for Real,' by Todd Burpo (Amazon). To those who have read it, you know exactly what I mean. As you read from page to page, there isn't any grey area, what you are reading is either true or not true. It's up to you to decide.

Are those who have just left and those who will leave, going to a better place...you decide. His name was Colton, not yet four years old...he went to the other side and came back, that's why there isn't any grey area.

  5. Somebody tell Pam Cook and Gasia to stop grinning like this is some extended pajama party. While people can't pay their rent, these two can't get past their own giddiness over "reporting from home." Sickening.

    1. KTVU has been TERRIBLE from home, the worst of the "big four." (I don't consider KRON a local TV news station, so I don't count them, though I'll bet even they can do better than KTVU.) Their reporters are immature, and this comes through when they report from home even more somehow.

  6. Somebody needs to tell them they'll look a lot better with the computer camera elevated to eye level or slightly above, and with them NOT sitting close enough to reach the keyboard. Some of them look like they're peering into a hole in the ground.

  7. Gasia gets extra credit for her comical "houseplant."

  8. Poor Steve Paulson. He looks terrible from his "from home" shots. Red, puffy, blotchy face. He needs to stop with the XCU. Please, Steve, ZOOM OUT a little and give the viewers a break and stop being so contrary.
