THEY PLAYED HARD. They weren't posers like the fools today. When we were without this virus scare, Thursday night was primetime. Game time. They were extraordinarily beautiful women. Professional. Powerful. Some were TV people. Some were not; they may have been PR women or in sales. Either way they knew the drill. More than just a pretty face, they had east coast nuance and loved a good back and forth. Weird, in a way, it was sexy--sexy on both fronts. I remember a fun Thursday night, after office hours, meeting quite the lady at the old Macarthur Park near Battery. Oh what a night.
*More embarrassing Nikki Medoro KGO Friday morning: while talking to newswoman, Kim Mcallistter, about the need to wear masks, Medoro said, "There's some really 'cute masks out there'"--what? Over 30 thousand people are dead; we're in a pandemic and Medoro wants to talk about masks that are cute? I can't believe what I heard but later wasn't surprised at Nik's naivete and irresponsibility --insensitive? More like broadcast malpractice. It's getting worse for the Nikster.
*Kenny Choi is out in the field at KPIX and not anchoring. And not hiding either in case some of you want to know. The new guys, I've watched a few times isn't that special only PIX needed a body and the new guy liked the idea of the Bay Area. I think he's safe for two years.
*I'm told Michelle Griego is actually a very cool woman only Griego doesn't know the practice of of being nice or at least trying to be nice. Faking it. She'd be a helluva lot more contract-friendly and probably have more feathers in her cap is she were more after it, but clearly she's not into that, poor thing.
*Too bad the over-the-air dunce caps were not as good as the behind-the-scenes people on local TV News here; because as far as tech work, I'm fairly surprised how decent the cast of characters look. Sound wise? Terrible. And get this: these inane reporters on scene have nothing to say, what a farce.
*Damon Bruce was able to make a deal with the Salesforce lady; that he can celebrate --a newborn child too. The fact he's a shitty sports radio talk host is the lesser story. Damon hit a home run but he's a career pinch-hitter.
*"Murph and Mac" this Monday probably short of the mumbling woman and the ass in the back window who thinks he's good; only why did they stick him with a mic at 5 in the morning? Anyway.
*Yeah, KCBS killed in March with a whopping book only the ad people don't buy the 12plus numbers.
*Stan wasn't kicked out of here, Stan kicked himself out. If Stan only knew how to pick his places he'd be a comedic genius. Stan, I love your material and comments. I'm the only one, besides Neal, who are your advocates. So don't shit on us and give more Hayward is hell prose and come back to society.
*Greg Papa has great monologues. John Lund is Romper Room.
*Steve Sommers a long, long, long time ago used to do the sports on KPIX--now, after 30 years in NY doing overnight sports radio for WFAN. It is an extraordinary listen and vintage act for me. You may not like it, but I love it. But it's a NY thing so I won't be offended if you no like it.
Why be nice when you host Bay Area Focus on sunday monring when no one is watching? Being more contract friendly. KPIX can finish last with her and last with out her.

Just use his daily go to topic (in this market for him at least, in others he bashed Dems and libs quite a bit), "It's all TRUMPS fault your morning show sucks! Yea, and conservatives! ReplyDeleteI am starting to come around on your view Rich with Damon Bruce, I never liked his imitation and mocking of Lowell Cohn, trashing Levi's Stadium continually and now tired of him talking about his kid. Yea it's great but don't need to hear about it all of the time. Although I have not listen to Radio since we have been in Shelter. I do think he has some patience as Ratto disagrees with every opinion he has, probably on purpose.

ReplyDeleteNikki was right.There are a lot of amusing masks out there, ranging from cute to political, to very artistic and beyond. This is not evil. Kids might be much more likely to wear them when their favorite cartoon character is on them,for example. The most creative ones include a simple blue mask with white lettering, "VOTE", some that are quite naughty, and some that are phenomenally beautiful. When facing death, you don't have to be drab, as well.
