I'M HERE ALL DAY ...if you desire to ask anything, do so. (Keep it serious please) Think of 415 Media as your go-to ..a digital talk host who is aware of the crisis and willing to lend a helping hand.
If you are home or at the office, remember, we'll all get through this and be even better for it.
Here's a serious question I've been meaning to ask: Are there ANY bay area radio stations who play either classic music or the proverbial elevator music? Sometimes when I'm in my study/office,I just want that kind of music to play low in the background.
ReplyDeleteNowhere up and down the AM/FM do I hear that.
Try these, Stan, there's 91.1 FM for jazz and a real keeper: 89.1 FM for big band --it's a gem. Might be tough to get but it's awesome.
DeleteTry Alexa or Google Home.
DeleteAlso 90.3 (SF/East Bay) or 104.9 (South Bay, the southern parts of San Mateo/Alameda counties) for classical music.
DeleteHi Stan. There are online options, too. Try iheart.com, pandora.com, and radio.net.
Delete89.1 FM it is a longtime gem, try their online presence, http://www.kcea.org/ The call letters date back to a creatively brilliant move running ocean sounds at night back in the day.
DeleteIf you have scumcast you can use the music choice app and listen to the “easy listening” channel. It’s the same music as on the cable’s music channel. That’s the channel I listen to at work...
DeleteThe local TV reporting is terrible I remember the golden years 70..80's
ReplyDeleteThey didn't have this to deal with though so wait a little then watch, I'll wait myself.
DeleteYOu don't know that "we will all get through this and be better for it".
ReplyDeleteOk, then we'll all die. Feel better? Never mind.
DeleteRich - can you shed some light on Kars-4-Kids? Is it a scam? How can a "charity org" have so much money to advertise so much for so many years on KNBR AND local tv?
ReplyDeleteIt is NOT a scam but a very well monied machine that buys lots of ads and has excessive DEEP pockets.
DeleteDo other advertisers make sure their commercials don't come after the Kars-4-Kids ones? The likelihood of the other advertisers' commercials being seen must be much, much lower after people turn off the sound or change the channel as soon as they hear the kids.
DeleteIt's so prevalent on radio that indirectly, other advertisers actually don't mind. But oh man!
Delete"Kars-4-Kids. The Coronavirus of commercials." - John Oliver
DeleteI thought Rich's week would be made knowing that HBO's Last Week Tonight Host agrees emphatically with the Lieberman take on one of the most insufferable ads ever made.
With that "well monied machine" you'd think they would have made a better commercial especially if they were going to run it every 5 minutes. Just plain torture for the viewers.
DeleteDid you see the PIX Noon News today, where Choi and Griego were "social distancing" by sitting at opposite ends of the anchor desk? I couldn't help but laugh. That ought to be a permanent practice with those two!
ReplyDeleteLots of shows/people are doing it. Did you see the CNN post-debate panel last night? GMA today? A new-age visual for the times we're in.
DeleteAll Corona Virus, all of the time. Looking forward to some semblance of normalcy.
DeleteBelieve it or not, Ashley & Sze are also keeping social distance on Circle 7, while Mathai and Wang are social distancing at NBC Bay Area.
DeleteMichelle is going to need a longer knife to stick into Kenny
DeleteWhat happened to Uzette and Hooman from Alice? One day she's getting her own show, the next day she's gone!
ReplyDeleteShe's not talking but I'm trying to reach out.
DeleteShe was 'let go'. She's 'on to the next chapter'. Just check social media.
DeleteHopefully Hooman has changed his career path. He was gawd awful!!!
Uzette's FB Page suggests she left in early February, no details though. Hooman still has a presence on the Alice page so I assume he's still there...
DeleteJust for a laugh, maybe, or maybe a cry. I usually have toilet paper delivered by Amazon. They are out of or charging huge rates for my favorite brand, Charmin, Ultra soft. As a Lark, I went on ebay, to see what was offered. Well, tons of price gouging but one was pretty good 24 pack mega 40.00 3.19 shipping, from Tennessee - most places were not in this country and delivery would be end of April. However, in reading product details, was dismayed to read

Think I'll pass, but on the other hand, if I start now, I might be able to make a lot of money by the time this is over.
Ritchie, Ritchie, Ritchie. Take a deep breath, you're hyperventilating about this Corona Virus thing. Just don't eat bats or spit phlegm on the sidewalk.
ReplyDeleteThis too shall pass.
What was Pat Thurston's diagnosis? I could not listen to KGO Monday. Is the the COVID 19 infected person she fears she is?
ReplyDeleteI've stopped listening to sports talk radio since there are no games. Wonder what the ratings will be for KNBR and 95.7 The Game.
ReplyDeleteJust saw the February radio ratings and KGO has ticked up a bit with a still pathetic 1.8 share. They had an all time low of 1.2 in December and a 1.5 in January. With this latest coronavirus pandemic, I think KGO will grow even more from here. They're still more local than the competition (KSFO). I wish they would fill each hour with all local like the good old days. Take boring John Batchelor and the syndicated weekend crap off. Thoughts?
ReplyDeleteIs it just me or has KCBS become amateur hour
ReplyDeleteI don't think the week end show on KGO is syndicated, they are infomercials, meaning the people who are peddling the products, vitamins, real estate, financial, are paying Cumulus for the time. Thus, I hope no one take those to seriously. Although some of the vitamins have value, but most likely overpriced. Can get the same from CVS or Costco for less money.
