OF COURSE...EVERYTHING IS FOR SALE...INCLUDING RADIO STATIONS...LIKE KGO
Only this time it's serious business; a longtime broadcast exec told me Cumulus is trying its best to cut its losses and KGO is on its hit list; a key factor: the recent unloading of its LA station: the once-formidable but now massive, under-performing KABC in LA which Cumulus just showed the door to almost all of its talent and go to syndicated programming --bye -bye "live and local".
LA is now and SF is next? Yep.
Cumulus has a severe shortage of cash on hand, I'm told by the broadcast exec. The person told me its Bay Area talk station (KGO) is openly being peddled.
"Hey, you might be able to buy it," said the exec.
Nope.
Maybe they can pawn KGO.

ReplyDeleteYou mean they have a Ronnnn that they just can't seem to get rid of?
I hope Ron can speak mandarin Chinese because KGO may be smelling a bit Chun King soon.
ReplyDeleteI think you may be right. That or the station goes dark.
DeleteDo Arab groups tend to put Mosque Services on the radio, the way Christians will broadcast a Sunday Service? That's always a possibility, I suppose.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe a Scientology Group.
Christian Science groups tend to have a lot of nutrition, health and holistic living tips.
**I still miss hearing the wisdom of Rabbi Lapin, don't you?
