RADNICH NEW YEAR LAUNCH? HE'S OPEN
IF YOU THOUGHT this was the end of Gary Radnich as a media king in the Bay Area, think again.
Radnich is quietly open to a new gig --be it TV or radio, and there's plenty of outside vendors out there to consider his services. It isn't something official and he's not openly campaigning for anything but he'll listen.
Of course he will.
If 70-plus men are able to run the country; some way north of 70 and way, way way north as a matter of fact, then the soon-to-be 70 Radnich (in February, 2020) has no problems doing sports shtick --it beats working, someone once said.
Radnich remember didn't walk out the door last June. He was told to retire by Cumulus and KNBR in a farewell conditioned and applied to their cost structure. It was time to go but on their terms, not Raddy. Had he balked he would have risked his financial payout from Cumulus which paid him to go away early. Of course Radnich capitulated publicly and privately --what else was there to do? He didn't want to make waves after thirty years of service and they took care of him. But he wasn't and isn't done and there's a little more gas in the tank.
Radnich has a no-compete clause in his settlement with KNBR/Cumulus which means he can't work for an outlet (radio or TV) for six months after he left (July, 2019) --in January of 2020 he can work again and given his relative spirit and general condition, he's ready to entertain again even if he's nearing the sunset of his life but as he's stated a million times before, there's a lot of overhead to take care of when you have three kids from a current wife --one in college. I hear the wife still loves Gucci too.
There's also this: Radnich hates being in the house and would love to get back to his shtick. He's not in any way perfect anymore but who is? I for one hated his Don Rickles act at the end but even at 50 percent Raddy was/is still better then some of the morons in this market. Which means I could take a retro/Gary/2020 because it would be a new challenge for the Bay Area native --hey look, I'd even partake in the Raddy/Caddy. Who wouldn't?
We shall see.

If Gary pays for the damages to the toilet he murdered at El Pollo Loco in Rohnert Park, I’ll support him. He made me go over my insurance premium with whatever he ate.
DeleteAt one time Gary Radnich's 6:45pm segment on KRON4 had higher ratings than all of the other stations COMBINED for that time slot. He was (and still could be) the best sportscaster in the Bay Area.

KPIX should hire Raddy, and stick him on the air with VDLC. Could you imagine those two tossing barbs and boasts at each other, on a nightly basis?

DeleteOh surely you jest? Let Fatnich do podcasts from the Farralones where only the water foul and sea gulls can hear him. He's not Dale Hansen, the long-time Dallas sportscaster/opine who's still going strong on WFAA. He's easy to like and makes some salient points. Fatnich just blabs and blabs. He's an irritant, like Don Cherry, who now does podcasts after being sent on a rail by SportsNet in Canada. Stay retired Fatnich. Polish the Bentley you pompous ass.

ReplyDeleteYou don't realize how much you miss something until it's gone. Bringing in Papa and Lund was a huge f up!!! Okay, maybe Gary wasn't the best, but he kept things light and humorous.

ReplyDeleteI'm ambivalent. You're a hypocrite. For sure you will go back in attack mode if he ever comes back. I've never seen anyone fixated on a Bentley as you were for month after month. Perhaps it would at least let you take some time off from boring us with writing about your other fixation RONNNNNN
