Exclusive: KTVU To Allow Schlum/Cub Reporter Broadcast Weather So Bill Martin Can Have His Days Off

Related image DOES Bill Martin have one foot out the door at KTVU? Or does he just not give a damn?

A station source tells me, starting next week, the Fox Bay Area outlet-- for the first time in its history, will have a non-meteorologist, cub reporter fill in for weather so Martin can have his days off.

The source joked, "can't wait to see the promo."

'Watch the KTVU Weather Team...or anyone else we can throw on the Green Screen or hell, just look at your phone!"

Inside the offices at KTVU, veteran staffers are SHOCKED that the suits have resorted to this practice. Martin himself has supposedly lost his status as chief power as head of the Weather "Authority", which presumably was to have one of the other forecasters broadcast when he was off.

"Bill used to care," said the source. "Guess that party's over."

  1. Perhaps if they'd kept Kyla Grogan on this wouldn't have been necessary...

    1. She's already gone from KTVU? That gig didn't last long.

    2. No, it didn't, and if our host is to believed, it was due to some animus from Bill Martin. Don't know the details, with you I regret the outcome...

  2. Sara did weather in Sac before coming to KTVU. She actually was really good yesterday. I'd like to see her more often

  4. They could always get Mike Pechner, who literally used to phone in his weather reports on KSFO back in the day.

  5. Watching Mr. Bill preform his schtick is fairly entertaining, last week he was addressing Heather Holmes by her last name "Hey Holmes", like he was using prison jargon.

  6. Kyla got shafted. Too bad, too; she was the first good hire they've made in years, maybe even a decade.

More proof how the poop floats to the top and the talented don't stand a chance.

  7. This makes me sad as a longtime KTVU viewer. They used to be such a powerhouse, now it's randoms from Sacramento. No wonder KGO is gaining on them.

  8. Works for me. All summer long the weather forecast is pretty much the same in this mild climate. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to stand there in front of the camera and say: "Tomorrow's weather will be the same as today's." When the going gets tough during mid-winter storms Bill Martin does a good job. I have no problem w/him taking days off to go surfing or whatever during the summer.

  9. The first order of business for Bill Martin after he gets fired from KTVU is to get his teeth fixed.

  10. Just got done watching the NBA Finals post game press conference.
When I noticed a little boy among the members of the media.
Oh never mind. It was only Tim Kawakami.
Is he being accompanied by an adult?

  11. Kyla Grogan is excellent and better than any weather prognosisticator at Fox2. Bill needs to retire. He babbles like old man.

  12. I've said it before. I like Bill and all the other ktvu weather peeps. They're fine. Leave em alone.

  13. Ok I'm no weather expert but I just saw Sara the fill in lady and I'm sure she's doing the best she can but, it's awkward and slow and she basically (emphasis on basic) just read temperatures for like seriously 40 towns and that was about it. The question isn't what's wrong with her or Martin, it's what's wrong with management at KTVU? This ain't Fresno. Hire some pros!

    1. Management can bring Kyla Krogan back to KTVU. Bill must gotten jealous because Kyla is a superior meteorologist, enunciates, speaks clearly and soft on the eyes.
