415 Media at Tadich for Dinner

Like I said all along all KGO Radio needed was a tweak, a cleansing if you will.

It took almost eight years for someone to finally figure it out.

Finally.

Get me the sand dabs and a salad with Italian dressing and extra bread.

Kettel one martini, very dry please.

*Ronn Owens: you can have your hour because Jack still thinks you have it in you but he and I will tackle you in the middle of Union Street if you interview the biggest schmuck in the world, Chris Matthews.

Can I have more wine and the shrimp cocktail?

*People who really annoy me: the ubiquitous louts who chide me for highlighting the "good, old days" a la: KGO, KRON, KTVU.

Let me tell you something: remember when Coke introduced the "new Coke?" and got slaughtered by millions of fans (me among them) because the new coke sucked and knowing they made a mistake, Coke came back with "classic Coke"? See, there are ample reasons why the good old days were not so bad.

Can I have the filet of sole and a glass of Chablis?

*There are times I don't agree with John Rothmann and his style of "there's no place I'd rather be then here" (at KGO Radio) but Rothmann is too good. He sounds like a broadcaster. And he's smart. Good radio brings passion and Rothmann delivers on both.

Cheeseburger and a diet coke. Extra onions.

*Ronn, redeem yourself: when you get the new gig back (one day soon) do a couple segments on how much you screwed up in 2011 and sold out --it'll be a deep cleaning and some of your past friends might flock back.

Bowl of white clam chowder; no crackers. Tomato juice. Chilled. More bread and butter.

*Dear Jack Swanson: I knew all along that "retirement" talk after KCBS was mere temporary and that Cumulus would be foolish not to hire you back at KGO because if anyone could fix it, you can. So a little early Christmas gift would be welcome. As you know Jack, I love paid subscribers.

Captains plate, extra oysters and the house salad. Even more bread. Greyhound on the rocks.

*Ken Wayne duller than Steve Aveson? Close call. Another KRON experiment up in flames.

Two scoops of spumoni and black coffee. Bread to go. Extra butter.

*Carolyn Tyler: not only a very good anchor. Sexy as all hell too.

*Glass of soda water. Check please.

  1. Rich, you may need a shot of "Jack" after all the fixings...great read.

Do we mention KCBS today...billowing smoke over the bay area today...tune to KCBS All News Radio and you have the losing Raiders on.

  2. Rich, say something good....you are so negative of the press in the Bay Area!!

  3. RICH - Let's dip the sourdough of the jessica aguirre situation (and the presumption an anchor 'of age' is being let go).

All the key decision makers are women - including those of her age. Stacy Owen - GM, Valerie Staab - head of the station group, Stephanie Adrouny - News Director.

To see a woman 'of age' simply told 'no thanks' doesn't add up here. Hopefully it means there is something good in the works for Jessica (just not at KNTV - looks she's leaving the area with the house for sale).

  4. Owens hasn't sounded like he wanted to be on the air for about the last 20 years or so. It was just something he had to do to pay the bills with the exception of the various celebrities coming through the studio.

  5. Coke, in its various forms, was definitely in the news in the mid '80s!

  6. “The good old days are not so bad”

What does that have to do with the current state of Bay Area media? While pining for a return of the old KGO radio most of that audience has moved on. Living in the past is harmless yet not productive towards the remaining days we all have left in this life. If ad execs saw a demand the old hosts would be back on the air.

  7. If you want SF sexiness, check out a lot of the Fleet Week photos. Those who serve meet those who shine; all genuine (unlike the many fakes all over Bay Media).
