Already, Entercom is planning a "massive restructure" --translation: cuts galore.
That overnight pleasure of having a live anchor delivering news and breaking news (and haven't we have such this week) is as good as gone. Cuts in reporters, producers, the people at the "editor's desk", and so one. Oh, making matters more ominous, those KCBS staffers that have veteran status aren't safe from the axe. In fact, some might be the first to go. Corporate human desecration doesn't discriminate based on age.
*Colin Kaepernick's business partner put out an advisory that Kap would be available for interviews --first shot was KNBR and KGO Radio, both Cumulus stations in the Bay Area. Nobody bothered to answer which only reinforces that, yes, Caepernick is blackballed not just on the field but off too.
*Don't give me the BS crap that "KGO is not a news station," and thus, should not be called out for not covering the Firestorms up north? I say, what? Are you kidding me? As a reader pointed out, an all-music FM station pulled its music and went all-firestorm coverage, 24-7! The week-long hellish event that has caused major death and destruction; completely leveled communities and towns and cities; forever changed the landscape both literally and figuratively; and some of you say KGO was OK sticking with taped financial shows? Is say you folks are a joke and need to see a therapist soon.
*On Saturday evening on KGO I decided to flip on the channel because I was curious as to what the 810 AM albatross was broadcasting and I wasn't disappointed...Major ass kisser and a schmuck who cheats on his wife and has fake callers (set up by him) call his lame show, "Chef" Ryan Scott was in a verbal masturbation contest with his guest, friend and mattress seller, Ronnnn Lowenstien Owens. Jerkoff #1, host Ryan was asking Ronnnnn "what's your favorite thing?" Owens was at his worst/best: "Well, other than my family, I'd say my 'IPhones." I'm not kidding. Here's the interview for your listening displeasure.
*Speaking of Ronnnnnnn, I'm just wondering if his brunette and good friend, non-wife, still enjoys the secret lunches at Tadich anymore? Tara Fields is quite a life coach, eh Ronn? But damn, you're playing Russian roulette with the wifey. You should know by know, "pal."
If Tara had an IPhone 10, Ronnnnnnnnnn would just be in heaven. "My special gadget!"
Answer: "Money."
The host wasn't kidding.
"Caepernick[sic] is blackballed not just on the field but off too."
ReplyDeleteNo, it's called the majority of the population really doesn't give a shit to hear what this misguided, opportunistic guy has to say.
Kaepernick is not blacklisted, he is not a starting quarterback level player.
ReplyDeleteWould you hiee Jessica Flores as your Main Anchor in a large market?
Kaepernick is not good enough to be a starting quarterback.
News crew for the ages: Dave Clark & Darya Folsom anchors, Roqui Theus doing the weather and Jessica Flores out there somewhere.
DeleteHe only started kneeling against "unjust social issues" when he started failing and losing miserably as a quarterback. Before, not a peep.
DeleteAtlanta hacks, aka cum-u-less, are privately elated about what they did to Kgo. They have no love lost for SF or what happens here. They'd never resort to go back and actually cover a local news event.
ReplyDeleteKCBS staffers aren't the only ones who should be shaking. 99.7 Now, KOIT, K-Fox and KBLX will soon have new owners.
ReplyDeleteKaepernick = Idiot
ReplyDeleteScott = Idiot
Owens = Idiot
Corpland = Idiot
Franklin = Idiot
Odd how one word describes them all.
And of the course you forgot the biggest one:
DeleteTrump=Double Idiot!!
Takes one to know one - 5:41 = ijit
DeleteBoy, I am sure hoping you are wrong about the KCBS cuts. Since I live in the overnights, I need them. Can't imagine anything so short-sighted as to mess with a winning team. What was that about, if it ain't broke?????
ReplyDeleteRich - Like it, or not, Ronn and Brian did spend considerable time discussing the fire. I don't know about the other hosts, as I don't listen to anyone else. Pat Thurston talked about it when she sat in for Ronn, one morning. (I don't listen to her, on a regular basis, ONLY because Saturday evening is not a convenient time for me.)
ReplyDeleteHowever, KGO radio did something that I consider to be unforgivable. They put out the call for supplies for fire victims ... food, bedding, clothes/coats, etc., to be delivered at 3 local sites. One of those sites was Stonestown mall.
I went through closets, linen closets and drawers, to gather things for delivery. My plan was to stop by Lucky supermarket, on the way to Stonestown, to purchase some baby, and pet, supplies, which they stressed that they needed.
On Sunday, I checked the stations website, to see if there was an indication of the location at Stonestown that would serve as the collection site.
A HIGHLIGHTED UPDATE, told us that they could only accept cash, or gift cards!
My first reaction was extreme irritation. My second reaction surprised, even, me. I don't trust Cumulus enough to give them money, directly. I'm just not all that certain that they might not keep some/all of it. I'd have given money to "the old KGO," in a hearbeat.
The things that I gathered, and the money that I would have spent, will STILL go to an organization in Sonoma, that has been feeding/serving that community for decades. I have friends who volunteer for it. (F.I.S.H. ... "Friends In Sonoma Helping," is asking for just such supplies and money.)
It's not a hardship to drive to Sonoma, although it will probably be a heartbreak But, it would have been more convenient to drop things in SF.
I don't know if Cumulus planned the switch. Probably not. But, blankets and baby food is ALL that they will ever get from me.
The reason it was changed to money and gift cards is because the donation locations asked for no more supplies. They have plenty and I are running out of space to put it all. You have to remember the fire victims don’t have anywhere to put all of these things and the storage is full. But money and gift cards are always needed.
ReplyDeleteKaepernick gives 25K to a convicted cop killers fund and his protest wasn't about cops????
