    1. Geez, I hope so. No idea on status of Liza but those traffic jobs have a short shelf life.

    1. Oh, just be patient ...I'm sure they're preparing for their tour de force, which roughly translated means, "If you think we suck now, just wait!"

  3. Hi Rich,

In your opinion which is the best local news TV station in the bay area?

    ReplyDelete
  4. That's a tough question because so many stations are fraught with issues, lots of issues...that said, I think KGO-TV delivers the best evening newscast at 6PM. I still like KTVU's "10 O'clock News" but their obscene amount of weather teases is hurting the program. That and the incessant chatting. So, KGO at 6 and KTVU at 10 with an asterisk.

  5. 95.7 The Game- on solid ground or what?

    1. On solid ground in the fact they're profitable and more appealing to a younger demo than KNBR is; that's not saying much but Entercom (which owns them) is happy with the product, thus far at least.

  6. Is Anny Hong of KRON 4 expecting soon and, how come so many infomercials at KRON during the day???

BTW, KTVU is not only the Weather Authority, they also are the "Traffic Authority".

    1. I'm waiting for them to be the "Sports Authority...sponsored by Sports Authority."

    2. Sports Authority filed for Bankruptcy.

  7. Why do you post racist comments from your readers?

    1. I've found that exposing the racists sometimes is better than censoring them. It exposes their bigotry and makes them look like the fools they are.

      Delete
    2. Yeah, but they post anonymously. I love your blog but that (anonymous) racist shit really demeans this space. What is this, Yahoo! or YouTube comments?

C'mon RL, you are way better than this.

    3. Since everyone is a racist to varying degees, what you want Rich to do is post only messages from phonies.

    4. Louis F:
Agreed that everyone has a bias of one sort or another. But you are missing the point.
Racist submissions to this blog where it has nothing to do with the subject except to troll others, or to expose themselves as fools, like Rich said, aren't necessary. If it were my blog I wouldn't let those comments see the time of day, why encourage them?

  8. Is the off shoot of the dumbing down of news a lack of professionalism in news gathering? Saw a young lady conducting an interview of some college students in Santa Cruz, who were also running a drug ring. She was dressed in a warm up jacket and yoga pants. She wore them (very) well but is there a loss of gravitas when you dress like you just stepped out of a gym.

    1. It's a sign of the times, and the news gathering business isn't immune. As for the interviewer I'm not shocked anymore, that's happening all over.

    2. That was Maria Medina. After having two children I thought it was humanly impossible to have a body like that, she proved me wrong!! The understatement of the year, "She wore them very well."

Every once in awhile someone with a "perfect body," comes into view, doing the news, her name is Maria Medina. She has been inducted into the, "Bay Area Hot Newsbabes" club. If she represents the "future," I want more future!

    3. I've noticed anchors in tank tops or outfits more appropriate for an after-hours office party than the news. Men, on the other hand, still must wear suits and ties. Where are the cries of a double-standard for men? ...Oh, I forgot, everyone is allowed to bitch and moan about their lot in life, except men, particularly white men. And then people wonder why Trump is so popular.

      Delete
    4. @1:53
Are you really that stupid? You're surely aware that sex sells and it's the station execs--the downtrodden "white men" you're whining about--who call the shots about TV attire. The fact that you're too dim to realize this is yes, indeed, the reason "why Trump is so popular."

  9. With KTVU now a FOX O&O and the other three networks each O&O-ing in the Bay Area, what is KRON's status under Media General? Are there any sale rumors still going, and if so, which are legit, if any? Talk about extreme mismanagement!

    1. KRON is in a perpetual state of mass chaos with a pathetic corporate owner almost as incompetent and undignified as KRON; the Bay Area's TV News station version of the Titanic.

  10. Whatever happened to the great KTVU news reporter & occasional anchor Ken Pritchett? 2015 was the putrid KTVU news purge with John Fowler retiring, David Stevenson leaving TV News entirely for San Francisco Police Department's media/public relations division & Eric Rasmussen leaving the SF Bay Area to work in Boston. But nothing about Ken Pritchett--I'm very surprised KGO, KNTV or KPIX haven't pick this talented man up. Keep up the great work Rich!

    1. Ken Pritchett is now in Sacramento I believe having turned down a ridiculous low-ball offer from KTVU. So too, Eric Rasmussen who went to Boston, WFXT.

    2. Looks like Pritchett is selling real estate in Sacramento. What a waste. He was a pretty good reporter.

  11. What happened to Gil Gross? He's not hosting the Real Estate Radio program for the National Assoc. of Realtors on Saturdays anymore? Is he ok or did he get fired, etc.? Rob

  12. Hey Rich,
    Love your blog.
Do you think Henry Tannenbaum should come out of retirement and save KRON?

Also, are the rumors true about Catherine Heenan and a certain weekend anchor/weatherman?

I'll take my answers off air;)

  13. A. Hank Tannenbaum "saving" KRON? What, a new state-of-the-art furniture show? ...Catherine Heenan, I have not a clue.

    1. Tannenbaum always reminds me of the grumpy old man you eventually find wandering around the streets collecting balls of string.

  16. My biggest all time complaint about the News, using NBC tonight at 5pm as an example. Two "over the top" gorgeous women doing the News, Peggy Bunker and Jessica Aquirre. Each and every time the camera would show them together or by themselves, their name bar would appear, covering the bottom 20% of my TV screen!!! What is the purpose! Drives me crazy!

Jessica Aquirre. Did you see her tonight? Feminine perfection at it's finest! Every word I could use to explain what a beautiful, hot, sexy and intelligent women is, I won't. Instead I will just say, "Jessica Aquirre!"

She has been a member of the, "Bay Area Hot Newsbabes" club her entire career, here in the Bay Area and will always be a member!! Watch tonight, you will understand!!

  17. 3:19..With all due respect Tannenbaum has the perfect face for radio. I'm always surprised when I discover he's still on the air.

  18. Rich,
    Cumulus questions:
How much longer will Cumulus allow KGO to keep hemorrhaging cash?
How much longer will Ronnnnnn and that horrible Drex Show be around?
Who will pay the price for KGO's continuing failings? Hammer? It isn't his fault but he is the boss.
On the FM side any truth to possible format flips for The Bone or Kfogggggggg? Will they go away like 92.3 nash?

  19. The Game, they went from ESPN to Fox Sports

  20. Rich...I enjoy watching Brian Van Aken whenever he makes an appearance on KRON. He seems like a likeable guy. Radnich always points out that he is from a wealthy family. Is this true and why doesn't KRON hire him fulltime ?

  21. Any comments on the change in schedule on KGO radio? They moved Ethan Bearman from KSFO afternoons to KGO mornings, and Maureen Langdon Sunday from 7 to 10 p.m. However, when I look at KGO's schedule I don't see those changes posted. Does this mean Ethan is on KGO only? He filled in for a host on KGO (Chip I think, not sure) awhile back, and then he was moved. I think KSFO is either doing paid informetials or re runs in his old slot, can't do much for their ratings? Even though I'm not a Bearman fan.

  22. Rich, Nothing wrong with a "Real Estate Show" especially when you are LOOKING for a home to buy or want to sell. It's like when you are looking to buy a new car and suddenly you notice your MODEL car everywhere. As the host of the LONGEST running Real Estate talk show in the Bay area, "The Real Estate Hour" , KSRO, 1350AM or 103.5FM or www.KSRO.com steaming live and on "Periscope" with your smart phone app--I have a great listenership which extends to the Bay Area.

  23. I heard Gill Gross left "Real Estate Today" because he was offered a better gig hosting "Real Boring Today". Is there any truth to this?
