Natasha Zouves Draws Massive Ire From The Circle 7 Natives; Staff Feeling: 'She Hasn't Paid Her Dues'; Probable Jennings Replacement Feels The Heat

"A lot of the staff is really hot because most of them think she's got ahead without paying her dues."

That from a senior KGO-TV employee who tells me newbie anchor, Natasha Zouves, is drawing massive resentment from the natives inside the KGO newsroom. The Bay Area native and former San Diego "hottest" TV anchor is barely into her second month and already is being castigated by fellow ABC7 staffers.

We've reported as much.

There's already a strong feeling that Zouves will replace Cheryl Jennings early weeknights and carry on her weekend anchor duties simultaneously.

For my two cents I've watched Zouves and while she can certainly read a teleprompter, her always-smiley face comes off as insincere and phony. The happy face syndrome --way too much for my taste--is not a pleasant sight particularly when she's reading a serious story. It looks sort of forced and contrived.

I'll give Zouves the benefit of the doubt and allow her more time. Apparently, some of her colleagues aren't so patient.

    1. Exactly. The company recruits someone to improve their product and they resent her? Shouldn't they be upset with management, or themselves?

  3. C'mon, Liz Cook has the gravitas of Walter Cronkite compared to Natasha, who's what, like 14-years old?

  4. I seem to remember that a lot of TV people thought that Dave McElhatton , who had only worked in radio until he took the anchor chair at KPIX, hadn't "paid his dues" and was getting a kind of free pass ahead of others. That theory was shot down fast... although Dave did have a bigger chest...

  5. I think she's better than Ama but not as good looking. I hope she won't emote as much as Ama does these days.

  8. Local news is a secondary interest of mine. I usually record CBS this Morning and GMA, with some very beautiful women and some handsome men too.
Norah O'Donnell is in a class by herself (as a member of the most beautiful women in the world). GMA has Amy Rorbach and Lara Spencer (beautiful and with nice legs).
You can add Margaret Brennen and Holly Williams, as well as Elaine Quijano to the must see list. Cecila Vega at ABC is also an ex-local from KGO.

  10. I'm finding out about Cheryl leaving on The Day After.
It's now October. Has she already had her last appearance as News Anchor?

  11. Natasha has a pretty face, but the rest of her needs a lot of work. Of course, the opposite of that is indeed, Cheryl Jennings, who has obviously had a LOT of work!

  12. 11:04 sums it up quite well. Unlike Ama, Zouves comes off child-like and giggly, a stark contrast to the sharp and very professional Dan Ashley. Not every KGO viewer wants to see him paired with a chick who looks and sounds like a kid.

  13. Even in San Diego Natasha Zouves was hardly a blip on the radar when it came to anchor popularity and name recognition. She was basically a nobody. There are plenty of others in SD who have superior anchor and reporting skills with much more stature than she ever had. But I guess we'll see how this all plays out.

  14. Bring Back Katie!

  15. Hey let's have some excitement. If KGO brought back Terilyn Joe and paired Natasha with her it would be a kick. I can just see Terilyn hissing at Natasha every chance she gets.

  16. Why did KGO not keep Kira Klapper? I really like her.

  17. If, as they do in the UK, we called all these anchors Readers would their egos be so shattered they couldn't go on with the show?

What "talent" do they need other than reasonably good looks?
