35 Years Of CNN; For Better Or Worse; TGIF Opener

Monday marks the 35-year anniversary of CNN. Or, as it debuted on June 1, 1980: "Cable News Network."

At the time, few people gave CNN a chance. Most TV people thought Ted Turner, the man who bankrolled the entire Atlanta operation, was out of his mind. Who would watch a cable news network 24 hours a day, seven day a week? Skepticism was rampant. Even Turner himself had doubts but carried on.

Today, at its best, CNN is the go-to destination for legitimate, BREAKING NEWS--not necessarily just missing planes in Australia and Southeast Asia.

As you begin your Friday enjoy the video above and see some of the network's embryonic funnier moments, including a few specialties involving Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper.
