    1. Don't you know? That's where being white and not letting women and minorities on the golf course is still an accepted practice. Like-minded people! It's also the epicenter of culture which is why Cumulus Atlanta tells NYC, LA and San Francisco what to play on the radio like at KFOG.

    2. CEO Dickey said while he was at Stanford, he was a huge fan of Dr. Bill.

      Then he fired Dr. Bill.

    3. 10:33 is right on. That's why guys like rootvg yearn for all of America to be like Atlanta where it is still "America" where white privilege still reigns supreme. Sorry, it's on the way out. I bet the Dickies will award themselves a hefty multimillion dollar bonus for coming with this brilliant idea! What else can they cut!?

    4. Why are they "all in Atlanta"? It's a vast, right-wing conspiracy. But (shhh)..don't tell anybody. Gotta keep it on the QT.

    5. I also know about the conspiracy, and all I can do is provide clues. They are found in the text of a book that should be read aloud, “Fox in Socks” by Dr. Seuss.

  2. any thoughts on "mattress-man's" extended vacation. Contract issues?

  3. Oh yes , let's save money by cutting commissions, what that means is you will find a demotivating and negative staff and you will lose business in the long run as many of these reps will move on. Way to keep the staff motivated. What a bunch of dicks and very small ones, under 4 inches

  4. Crap the Sweet Jack Dog will windup on Puppy Love.

  5. Cumulus has earmarked the commission savings for the Randall Bloomquist Bimbo Eruption Defense Fund.

  6. Does this mean they'll run twice as many commercials looking for sales people?

They just decided to throw the staff a Holiday party on January 28th at the Public House. What amazing sales staffer cut a deal with the Giants to get a free lunch?

  7. This is not atypical position. As a marketing guy who's worked with lots of salespeople, this is largely the norm.

  8. WTF!!! The only commercial spot KGO is playing today is the Wounded Warrior one. I just heard it repeat 8 times in a row again. I have heard it 100's of times today. FUCK!!!

  9. Isn't this consistent with bringing in syndicated programming and handling sales on a mostly national basis? Who needs to pay commissions here if you're expecting nearly all of your spots to be sold out of Atlanta?

    1. I think you are close to the answer 3:18. It's is interesting no one here has mentioned programmatic advertising. It is a direction that is being tested and explored by the radio industry.

  10. I don't think these salespeople bring in any new advertisers.

I don't seem to hear any new advertisers on the station just the usual Mattress Company, Cars for Kids, The Income Tax Guy, that have been on for years.

    1. Who'd want to advertise on that shitty station? Would you want to buy ads on Karel's show? Chef Scott Ryan's show? Mo Landenleigh's show? I'd use my advertising dollars here on 415 Media before spending a cent on any Tricky Dickie enterprise.

    2. Yes, that's my point. They already have that small core of advertisers that have been on for years. And pretty much nothing else.

What is the point of hiring salespeople tasked with bringing in any new advertisers? It's a fruitless endeavor.

  11. No offense, Richard, but how do you know? This is not something you would be privy to. Not even by your inside spy's. Seems like spreading gossip for shaking the bush sake.

Yes, I know. This won't be posted, just because, but I had to send you this.

    1. No, he had to post it so that I could laugh at your attempts to make a plural.

  12. So, what, if their worth more at another station the market will pay them.

    We're all "free agents"

  13. Big deal. We're all free agents. If your talent allows, go find a higher paying job.

    1. A lot more than talent. In fact, talent is the least thing.

  14. More bad news, but hardly a surprise about one of the worst media companies in America. The Dickheads are completely clueless and obnoxiously venal. They have been a terrible influence on national radio since taking over like some sweeping disease.

  15. There has to be more to the story than reported here. For example, it might make sense to pay lower commissions on recurring business and higher commissions on business from new accounts or increased business from existing accounts. But it is hard to believe that even Cumulus would do something so stupid as to cut commissions across the board.

  16. Yes, there is more to the story here; the leaders of Cumulus are raping the company without regard to what they are doing to their employees, their company, and the long term viability of their stations, as is typical of big business in the US today. I'm sure, if they could do it, they'd outsource their jock positions to China for 2 bucks an hour.
