KGO Radio Gives Stock Market Report When Stock Market Is Closed; Monday Notes

From a 415 Media regular reader:

During the 11 AM locally produced "news" cast this morning, Katie Leaver (who should know better) gave us a quick stock market report...dow up, nasdaq, too....with numbers.

How this happened on a day that the market is closed for the MLKJr. holiday is beyond me.

*And then there was the report by one of their newer reporters about Obama and Congress, wherein he interviewed a KGO "progressive" talk show host (Karel) and one of the conservative hosts from KSFO.  Talk about keeping things in house.

  1. Sunday morning when John Hamilton was introducing Angie Coiro, he referred to her as "Susan" Coiro. Forgive them, it's obviously something in the water or heat vents.

  2. John Hamilton has a good voice with pleasant deliver, but he often sounds quite distracted. Somebody in the studio may be sending hand signals to him that he doesn't understand, or it could be somebody chattering on his earphones. Maybe he's just nervous, and sees how one by one, the local talkers are being pushed out, many times unceremoniously.

    1. Or maybe he is just an incompetent Ted Baxter.

  3. This afternoon (Monday, 1/19), Chip Franklin referenced Janet Napolitano as having served as the Secretary of Homeland Security during the CLINTON administration.

Chip, the Department of Homeland Security didn't exist, during the Clinton administration.

    1. Chip Franklin really isn't a very good host, but He get his facts confused everyday. I still listen to him when out in the car. He is better than the 20 or so other stations I get in the car

  4. Re stock market report: She probably just went to Yahoo or someplace like that and looked at the indexes. LOL! "Gee, those indexes haven't changed 1-cent for many hours."

  5. You must be a very old person if you are tuned into KGO.
KCBS is the place to be for the latest weather, traffic and news .

    1. You only need to listen to KCBS once a day for 30 minutes to hear everything they have to say for the complete day. They just repeat and repeat.

Many of us older people enjoy talk radio and at on time KGO was the best station for it on the planet

  6. She must still be relying on used WSJs she finds while riding Muni To work.

  7. Something called Talk Show Bootcamp (http://www.talkshowbootcamp.com) will feature disgraced Cumulus Corporate PD Randall Bloomquist who "resigned" earlier this month for "personal family reasons" which apparently don't prevent him from trolling for another job. Not sure what words of wisdom Bloomquist will be offering attendees, perhaps he'll give tips on conducting improper relationships with assistant program directors.

    1. I'm sure Cumulus VP Mike McVay won't be happy to see him but I'm told they're cut from the same cloth so maybe they can share war stories?

    2. Looks like Talk Show Bootcamp came to their senses and removed Randall Bloomquist from the agenda. Just as well, Randy is probably busy with depositions.

    3. Yeah he was replaced on the panel by Ken Charles, formerly of Clear Channel. Charles was recently fired too, but unlike Randall Bloomquist it has nothing to do with boinking an employee or exposing the company to multiple sexual harassment lawsuits.

  8. I was watching the noon news on KPIX today. There was a report on elephant seals, and the female anchor said that while male elephant seals range north to Alaska, female elephant seats are known to range further "east" to Russia.

My immediate thought was, "She better hope Rich wasn't watching."

    1. If you go far enough east you will get to Russia...

You won't be able to see it from your house, however.

  9. Then,then....I didn't make a million dollars today?

  10. It's what Randall would have wanted Kevin to want.

  11. Anybody looking for news on KGO is a fool.
Usually they just read/copy other stations news late...... like 2 days later.
Or they watch tv and copy those stories.... again later.
They are just a filler & fluff babble station now.

Next big earthquake .... wait a few days for the report .... on KGO
KCBS is on it usually in 15 minutes.
KGO has some serious issues & lost credibility to deal with.
Giggle on that .... KGO dummies.
