Bay Area Viewers: Does Anyone Still Watch 'The View'?

Does anybody watch The View? I don't. I know the show is geared for women and I'm not a woman last I checked but even if I were, I've never found The View interesting enough that I'd watch it for any amount of time let alone an hour.

There's a rumor that ABC is seriously considering pulling the plug on the show after this year--mostly due to lack of ratings and lackluster cast.

I'm wondering--Bay Area women, do any of you watch The View? I don't want to discriminate; any guys watch? It'll be interesting to see.

  1. I'm a woman. Ido not watch The View. I do not watch The Talk. Aren't they pretty much the same thing? The Talk is L. Moonves' way to keep tabs on his wife and American homemakers buying/watching habits. Sharon Osbourne et al., perform for Leslie Moonves.

  2. Not a woman, but I often have it on in the background when working in the morning. Used to like it better when the more intellectual/political women were on (i.e., Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck) and the topics were more interesting and timely. Disliked the bimbos (i.e., Jenny McCarthy and Sherry Sheppard, especially together). Latest group is OK (although I could do without Rosie O'Donnell 2.0, I just love Rosie Perez). I don't think it's going to last past this season, though ... time to put it to bed.

  3. The View is a front for the mostly liberal bias, plain and simple.

    1. Oh, stop it. "The View" is not a front for anything. It's just a TV show.

    2. 9:00 was correct. It's a bunch of liberal hens with 1 conservative thrown into the mix.

    3. 10:05 A faux conservative at that. When this 'lady' is not bashing Sarah Palin, as per panel request, she becomes almost invisible with little of anything to say. She seems intimidated into silence by all those big mean girls.

  4. Most Bay Area women are working at that time.

  5. I only watch The Real, because of the Realness to which they bring it on a daily real level.

  6. Whenever I want to catch up on the latest in men's fashion - I turn on the View to see what Whoopi Goldberg is wearing.

  7. I watch "The Talk" because it's edgier than "The View". Stop laughing.

  8. The View has been declining for several years - and now that Barbara Walters is gone, it has deteriorated even more - she was the driving force behind the show. It's time for it to end. It had it's time, but now is not it.

  9. Baba Wawa and Elizabeth made that show watchable. Who would watch now with that stupid ugly piece of shit Whoooopi hosting??

    1. Elizabeth was the cute one who was embarrassingly uninformed or the one who sort of looked like Bette Midler?

  10. Whoopi has been AWOL all 2015 (hospitalized due to back issues). Ms Perez had the month of January pre-scheduled for rehearsals of her new Broadway play, so she hasn't appeared this year either. That has meant a myriad of bizarre guest co-hosts, which is sending the show into a further spiral for the 11 episodes that have aired this year.

Whoopi and Rosie O cost a fortune. Whoopi has one year left on her contract. RO only signed a one-year deal. Together, they are pretty awful. When one has been gone, the show usually moves along nicely.

I think you will find all the 'rumors' spouting from a site called "Fox-411". As witnessed by the comments on this posting, the drudgereport trolls remain in command of the internets.

The show won't be cancelled until ABC can successfully re-take the 9AM timeslot from the ABC-syndicated Kelly and Michael. I believe that Kelly and Michael's contracts run another 3 seasons, at which point, the contracts for stations carrying it can be re-negotiated to move them from 9AM timeslots on many of the ABC o-and-o stations. Live! is still carried on many non-ABC stations and makes bundles of money for ABC, so ABC isn't going to cancel The View -- and create GMA Hour Three -- until they solve the Live! issue.

Strahan is already part of GMA, but his Live! contract brings him 10M a year (Kelly makes 12-20M). They aren't going to give up that lucrative deal, but new contract negotiations are the only thing that is going to open up 9AM for GMA3, aka the hour of daytime that ABC news has for The View.

Co-hosts will get canned (non-renewed, like Joy, Jenny, Sherry, Star, and Elisabeth) and ratings will ebb and flow. The View is part of the bigger jigsaw puzzle that is ABC daytime and the network is not going to just give that hour back to affiliates so they can show infomercials or other pay-to-play programming.

  13. Female here. I never watch the view, nor anything on television, ever. I'm uncorded & watch any show I like on Netflix or Youtube. The people online I've seen talking about this show are gay men & so I read their gossipy juicy threads out of boredom, but I've never watched it, nor would I want to.

  14. All you need to know about my preferences is Rosie O Donnel. She is a bully, a scene stealer, etc The fact that they all talk at once is not even cute to me, rather it is quite ignorant. There is no quality or content to anything they say. I my estimation it is a total train wreck

  15. Its a horrible show to watch. And why on earth is Sharon Osborne on the show?
