Savage's Teddy: Power Poodle Has Considerable Teeth in San Francisco Social/Media Culture

http://www.michaelsavage.wnd.com/2012/04/dr-savages-celebration/ Teddy is a fairly small poodle but his power transcends the usual canine media scene in the city by the bay.

Teddy belongs to syndicated-radio raconteur, Michael Savage.

He gets first-class treatment. Specialized meals at the North Beach Restaurant complete with boned chicken and his own sauce.

He barks out sane ornate real-time, real-people talking points and this, despite the fact he's a dog! Go figure!

A host of other poodles are talking a political career, but so far, Teddy's not barking.

The only things on his plate, (besides the chicken), are sailboat trips and long walks with his master, Mr. Savage.

Word on the streets is he's looking to make a significant move soon. We aren't privy to the entire story but we hear that Teddy has his sights on a significant SF media property. Don't tread lightly here. This dog has a lot of bite. Particularly on the filthy streets of this city that used to know how--said his confidant: His real name is THEODORABLE SAVAGE,  HIS NOSE KNOWS HOW BAD IS THE STENCH IN SAN-FILTH-ISCO.

  1. That poor dog needs grooming and his nails clipped...and likely a najor dental check-up. I remember meeting Mr. Savage;s wife at a holiday party. She had very few teeth left. Hopefully that has changed.

    3. Both of my statements are utterly true. We know you are afraid to use your name, but why the prudish spelling of "bitch"? "Bitch" is a perfectly legitimate word.
As for Mrs Savage's savaged dentition, it was painfully obvious that she desperately needed to have numerous broken and missing teeth tended to. I don't remember the year, but the event was at the St. Francis Yacht Club. I don't know if she had endured some sort of trauma, like a car accident, but it was extremely noticeable. Hopefully, as I said above, being such a bitch and all, she has received dental care since then. Surely Mr. Savage would remember this, and since you are close to him, Rich, you could inquire.
And please tell him, that of course his dog is darling. I think they could both write a fun story, but that the dog needs some therapeutic(not glamour) grooming.

    4. His name is Teddy. An ungroomed poodle would not have a beautifully brushed out and clean coat like this. (Ungroomed it would look like a pound of rasta wool hanging to the ground.) Look at the clipped face and the round circle-cut around his face. Only a professional groomer could accomplish this. Poodles typically have quicks that extend far into the nails. (If a groomer for my poodle would have cut into the quick to 'train' her nails to grow 'shorter' I would never return to that groomer - this is painful to dogs.) Teddy's teeth look impeccably white, even in this photo.
You have poor eyesight, which informs your poor brain, which then gives rise to a poor assessment of a well-cared for Teddy.

    6. I have no identity crisis and never have. I don't eat cheese and my mother is deceased.

    7. There is no poodle-specific nail grooming issue. All dogs should have their nails trimmed, unless they walk frequently on hard surfaces that sand the nails down, naturally. If you can hear them click click click as they walk, the nails are too long. There is no technique to "train the nails to grow shorter". So, in fact, you don't know what you are talking about. You have to be careful with any dog not to nick the blood vessel in the nail. With a clear or light nail..you can actually see where the tissue and vessel are located and how to avoid them. With dark nails, it's an important task best left to your vet's office.
The dog Teddy, was described as having an "odor" problem(Theodorable). If the odor is from the mouth, there is a likely a bad tooth or teeth.

    8. Christine, you're obviously NOT a Savage listener - just a Savage hater. If you did listen to him, you'd know that the dog gets treated better than most people look after themselves. Keep listening to the Wallbanger. You sound like one of his listeners.

      Delete
    9. I don't know who the "wallbanger" is. I've seen Michael Savage many times in the past when he did some fill on KGO. I'll never forget the time I was listening to him on my way in to do the shift after his. He was ragging on pit bulls , saying they were all evil etc. I brought my brindle pit up to the studio and one of the engineers held his leash while I called out to michael savage and told him there was someone who wanted to meet him.. He stepped out of the studio, all puffed up, and when he saw sweet Cooper with his wagging tail, he ran back into the studio and barred the door. It was very, very funny. So every time I'd see that short little fellow in the elevator with his cape and hat and piece and forest green Jag awaiting, I would just remember him literally turning green upon seeing a smiling terrier.
I think Michael Savage has a lot of talent, and can do riveting radio, when he wants to.

  2. Are we to presume there is some equivalence between the condition of Mike's dog and that of his wife? These days, her 'teeth' may spend all night bathing at the bottom of a fluted Libby glass anyway. Unless, that is, they are made of wood, in which case they would bob and float.

    1. Please don't explain to everyone how or why you've become so intimate with her teeth, I'm sure Oprah would love to hear your life story.

      Delete
    2. I've already done the Oprah shows, more than once.
As for the teeth or lack of teeth at question, one didn't have to become "intimate" It was readily apparent, even at a distance.
Are you saying I'm making this up?

      Delete
    3. Never mind, you're probably not making it up. Is this you? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christine_Craft

    4. Really? Where, in Monticito when you were at KEYT? I don't think Oprah likes you.

"She even knew it when she was bald in Baltimore. The ABC affiliate WJZ-TV hired her when she was 22 to anchor the news and Winfrey got caught in ``the whole Christine Craft Syndrome. They tried to change me into something I wasn`t.``

At least they didn't try to put her on the CBS Sports Spectacular.

"KGO Radio's Christine Craft, substituting for Brain Copeland on Sunday morning, went out of her way to rip into Oprah Winfrey, who announced her departure from syndicated TV in Sept. 2011.

Craft's hour-long diatribe was refreshingly blunt, if not a tad too personal with Craft openly portraying Winfrey as a rich media mogul playing off the image of the "poor little 'black girl." Humn...

The last comment drew a tepid response from a critical African-American caller who questioned Craft's choice of words; pretty riveting radio on a gray Sunday morning.

Craft's anti-Oprah mantra was enhanced with a few personal stories; nevertheless just hearing anything slightly off the beaten media path was fairly interesting."

I think you're jealous, Christine, of her success. You didn't even rate enough to get a new car from her like so many others.

Why are you so mean? Why do you have two URL's on Rich's blog - "Christine" and "Christine Craft."

Is it tough being 69 and not relevant anymore?

Incidentally, your new hair do looks a lot like Teddy's flying all over and with more than a touch of gray.

      Delete
    5. "hair do"...? do what? I don't have a "new " hairdo. It's the same hair I've always had, not the best, not the worst, certainly too" inconsistent" for TV. I've never tried to cover up any gray hairs. You see, as you age, you get grey or white hair or no hair. I'd love to have solidly grey or solidly white hair, but alas, I don't.(nor did my parents)
As for Orphah, I've done her shows and was paid AFTRA fees for same.
Montecito? Fernauld Point..(hint..next to the Miramar, near Hammond's Reef and my ultimate resting spot ) I also lived in Carpinteria, California, on the beach for many years. Why would that irritate you? We never saw Orphah on the beach or in the water.
. As for your perception of my "meanness", I am certainly not one of those women who games men by pretending to be something she isn't. You know the type, all sweetness and light, while ripping you off or cheating on the side. I've always been this way, and at 69, have no intention of suddenly converting . I have watched "nice" people moan and groan about caring for their parents or sick relatives, and then shove them off into rehabs and nursing homes. I build a cottage for my dad, brought him up here from Santa Barbara to sack of tomatoes and did all his direct care for fourteen years, because I was so mean. As a lawyer who has drafted documents for people in nursing homes, I see the "nice" relatives pretending to care about their elder's situation, and then never visiting them, unless out of guilt or need to control their assets. So, I'm quite satisfied about my personal record of being "nice" , whether you get it or not. I didn't do it to make you like me.
Excuse me now, I have to go and be mean and help get two little foster dogs(the size of Teddy the poodle) their new homes. Since they won't be euthanized., thanks to me They like me lots.

  3. dear 3:14....Firstly: I've never ever claimed to be a Pollyanna or Princesssweet.
Secondly: I'm willing to bet I'm a lot less mean, and less rude than numerous, very successful male talk show hosts, including Michael Savage. I'll bet you find a lot of the vicious misogyny on those shows, good fun.
Thirdly: for 2:35, I'm not responsible for what you presume. The fact is that canine oral health is often overlooked. Dogs get horrid abcesses and infections in their teeth and gums that can lead not just to pain for the animal, but heart problems and other life-threatening infection issues. A dog that is not groomed regularly, as the photo here indicates, often are also not getting close oral inspections, either.

  7. I love Dr. Savage, and have for years. He's brilliant. Since his increased popularity I've noticed other (much less successful talk show hosts) try to copy him. I couldn't believe it at first - one in particular was SO obvious. That's when I realized that Dr. Savage's style is really a talent. To free associate the way he does, and just his general style - it's a unique talent.
I would love to meet him someday, and Teddy too!!

Time to send an email to the Cumulus honchos.

  12. So let's get this straight.
Michael Savage hates immigrants, illegal or otherwise. He hates women, who should be in the kitchen cooking meals for their husbands (you know, like they did in the 1950s).
And he hates those lazy African Americans who live off all the white people who work hard for their money.
So here's the question: does that make the dog a racist like Michael Savage?

    1. Savage especially hates Ukrainian women. He leaves his most virulent comments for them. Savage seems to think that they look like Stalin's housekeepers probably look. Actually, Stalin's housekeepers were 17 and 18 year old KOMSOMOL girls........

  15. I read this blog because I have an interest in some Bay Area media. Except for KQED and KNBR, I don't listen to news or talk radio. I can't remember ever hearing Michael Savage on the radio, or Christine Craft for that matter. I can only form an opinion on either one based on this thread. I don't know what Savage is like, but if Christine Craft's remarks on here are anything what she's like on the radio, I don't think I'll be listening.

    1. She's often worse on the radio, because she thinks her world his over the heads of everyone else. She's a narcissistic self-annointed old woman who thinks she better than most, more correct than all and uses her college education of reported horrid grammar in her own work to ridicule others. She's a burned out flame who can't understand why she's lost much respect and no ring-backs from KGO much anymore, other than to keep her union card alive. She's now filling in doing internet and one hour "shows" on one station for Karel. Craft is now a crotchety parody reflection of herself.

  16. I met Christine, she blind, deaf, and has a mental disorder known as liberalism. Not that there is anything wrong with being blind and deaf, but the last one is quite the hindrance on society.

As are the people who don't work that are physically able, being either, black, white brown, yellow, or green. Thais the real message of Savage. You said "African American" not him. As an epidemiologist you don't think he realizes we are all from Africa? Well a person who never went to college wouldn't understand that most educated people know that by Osteology we understand the oldest skulls are from central Africa.

Do you even listen to the show you you naive imbecile?

  17. Everyone here attacking Mike is jealous of his success. A 4 year old child could tell you that one. Now go back to your miserable lives while Savage screams a top the highest mountain every day, and you sit here and write your comment on a blog that 40 people will read. Quite depressing when you think about it.

    2. I think she already has my friend. But lets be real, the person who meticulously reads a persons blog posts for minor grammar errors has way too much time to spare. Its the idea that matters, we have publishing companies that take care of that. Our great country has lost all semblance of the acknowledgment of developing ideas and focuses on small aspects at a time. lambasting others over minor gaffes. A nation of sound bites and narrow minded buffoons.

  18. Teddy is a very cute dog. I wish I could rescue him from that senile old goat who is so damned insecure, he keeps hitting people over the head with his degrees . . . like no one else ever earned a PhD? Teddy needs wholesome dog food, not the type of food humans eat. Small dogs live a lot longer than larger ones do. Teddy might outlive his master.

  19. Already my day of "how stupid can people be?" has started. I'm watching on 2 the clip of the kid attacked by the dog and the cat who saved him. Then it get watery eyes time when they show him bandaged, kissing his kat . And I already heard he was autistic..so just adds to the heart strings.
THEN...back to Milbach and Wong. This is what they got out of that clip..M: " I don't have a cat" W: "Me neither"..M: "We have a dog"
I think they either are self centered or maybe they saw that clip hundreds of time. Guess which one is probably true.

  21. Teddy may be fed well, bathed and brushed, but he looks like he hasn't been properly groomed (haircut and style) for a few months. Mr. Savage needs to take a few minutes away from his rants and find a good groomer.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. you really don't get it. Mr. Savage has chosen a style for teddy that they don't use at dog shows or in magazines, it's the wild lion look and it only happens with great purpose and more combing and brushing that all of our dogs combined have ever endured.

  22. I hear that Ronn Owens still has a stiffy for Savage, if you listen closely. The past 10 days I've heard him - twice - go into monologues on why he would never drink Rockstar Energy Drink. The first time he said it, his voice had an unusual tilt to it ... and said there were "multiple reasons" why he would never drink it ... and he said something else, and my mind immediately flipped to the drink line that Savage's son started. (I'm sure Dad had a big hand in it.)

So do they use different private rooms when they eat at their favorite City Italian joint in North Beach?

I don't know why Ms. Craft is taking swipes at Michael Savages wife, unless this is some off joke referring to the dog. Just negative and unneeded. Speaking of Ms. Craft, how is her commie buddie Bernie Ward doing? I hope well, but not well enough to land another radio job.
