  2. I think Christine loves a good fight. Some people show their best in times of peace and tranquility, others shop around for a lion or a pack or lions to tame. We need both types of people. The person who says "I'm a lover, not a fighter" and means it reminds us to accept what is or work for some solution based on common ground. The person who dons the modern armor of education, elucidation and a stridency built on self confidence is also valuable as an advocate for noble causes that need to be discussed if not immediately won. I think she can be a bit vicious at times, but, this is all in the name of personal crusades. At least she cares. Sometimes "Que Sera, Sera" is just not enough and a sign of cowardly withdrawl from the battlefield. Christine is not a coward, and shows her love in boisterous, edgy ways, As a Tea Party man, her brusque manner takes a little getting used to, but I do have (some) respect for her. Christine is important to the Bay Area. I know who she reminds me of, sort of a young Camille Paglia.

    1. In other words, she is a malcontent with a chip on her shoulder. But that is OK!

Important to the Bay Area? To the animal population, yes. To humans, not so much.

    2. She reminds you of Camille Paglia? I disagree. Christine doesn't look at all like Carl Sagan.

  3. christine craft should have a full time gig or at least on the weekend..realizing that she is an attorney and probably busy during the week..she must be heard!!

  4. She was hot. Took me surprise that she was fired for being "ugly". Kind of a Mary Hart of ET look.

  5. "Ok, I'll smile but I'm not going to like it...and it'll show".

Weird coincidence, when I went to publish the text to prove I'm not a robot it read "miserable twat".

  6. Ms. Craft definitely needs a Regular Weekend Gig on KGO to Replace Either Karel or Maureen Langdon!! Also like me she is an Ardent Animal Lover!!

  7. Christine has been around the bay area radio scene for decades.  She used to fill in for peeps on KGO at the last minute, even though she had to drive down from Sacto. I admired that.

I admire her fierce loyalty to friends (Bernie) and family (taking care of an infirm dad for 12 years), and pooches (even Pitts!).  The gun thing I don't really get, but this is part of what makes Christine so interesting.  She Is not predictable.

The best part is her voice.  She is a woman "of a certain age", or, o.k., an old broad as she has said,  but she has energy in her voice...she's got the juice!

I don't get why she doesn't have her own show.

  8. I find her annoying but I guess she was "cute as hell" back in the day.

  9. Christine was certainly what we would call a 'HOTTIE' back in the day! I wonder if she still looks this good!

  10. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess. She looks like a horse on steroids.

  11. I completely agree with 2:46 pm, both with regard to sentiment, and also accuracy. There are several reasons which may explain why Christine has never had her own show on KGO: either she has stated simply that she doesn't want one (unlikely, based on comments she has made over the years), or there is "something" (no idea what it would be) which precludes Cumulus from giving her a gig. And IMHO, Cumulus is off the charts when it comes to unreasonable, cruel, and yes - ignorant when it comes to how to run a radio station (obviously - based on current ratings). But then, Cumulus didn't own KGO in Christine's early days. So.....the mystery remains. It is true, however, that Ms. Craft is "of retirement age", and I'm not sure she's actually practicing law anymore.

  12. That's a nice photo.

  13. Christine has as they say...a great face for radio. She's a major market radio talent. At KGO, they know she'll drive 200 miles to make $350 at a moment's notice. In Sacramento, she's toast for trying to sue KFBK (former employer ). Christine you passed the Bar! Stop wasting your time. KGO is a joke, practice law!

  14. Christine , a battle axe for sure

  15. I do practice law. I never sued KFBK. Why would you say that? I sued a television station in Kansas City(see wiki) As for my face for radio, I tried to tell all those television people to stop hiring me, because you didn't like my face or my smile, but alas they kept hiring me(KSBW, KPIX, CBS network, KEYT,KMBC, KEYT again,KRBK, KQED). What's a girl to do?
As for driving to KGO from Sacramento, I"m hardly the only person who has done that. Brett Burkhart,Bernie Ward(who preceded me at KFBK) and others come to mind. The drive sucks, but being there is great. Thanks to Telos, I've used a home studio for the last five years and it's so convenient. You should try it.You can do radio all over the place, from home! Imagine that.

    1. Is that post by "Bubba" actually Christine? OUR Christine? Well, my goodness, speak of the Devil! (Just kidding Christine).

    2. Whoa Bubba or Christine your barking up the wrong tree. Your simply better on radio. And yes, you did hold a news conference outside KFBK announcing post job legal intentions. The PD Rick was a bit of a prick but that was a dumb move....future employers ran for the hills. What that said, the Bay Area and KGO are better off when you're on the air. Just think its not worth you time.

  16. Excellent photograph by Christine. I remember her anchoring KTXL in the 70s.

  17. dear 9:21...I never anchored or worked at KTXL. I didn't take the picture.

  18. 1:13 "Your" is an adjective. I never sued or had any intention of suing any radio station anywhere. When I left KFBK in my last year of law school(ratings then double what they are now...rush in am ..me in afternoon), I did answer reporter's and fans' questions about leaving to study, but you are absolutely wrong about any "legal intentions". Why would you think I had any interest in working in Sacramento radio? It was a great way to pay for law school. KGO brought me in immediately to do fill, which I've done for years, happily. My last job in Sacramento was as a lawyer at Farrell, Fraulob for several years, until my colleague David and I got hit by the speeding 85 year old who ran up on the curb, while we walked to lunch.(see sacbee) I have no interest in doing radio in Sacramento. I'm not gunning to do some big job at KGO, either. I"m always delighted to help out when they ask and I'm able, whether for disney/cap cities or Cumulus. So, I"m not sure what you mean when you say "It's not worth my time"??? Playing the 50,000 watt wurlitzer is always worth my time.

    1. YOU ARE better as a talk show host because you can flaunt your knowledge. Your "fans" didn't prompt you to hold a news conference outside KFBK. There were no "fans" on site....just 13,10, 3 and the Bee in a desolate lot next to the station. You ripped KFBK management for letting you go and threatened to sue. I know its many moons ago, but come on Christine. Is your memory that foggy? And no, its never worth playing a 50,000 watt Wurlitzer with no audience. Hopefully, Jack or somebody will rebuild talk in the Bay Area. And hopefully, they'll hire you.

  19. 2:45, with all due respect...I was asked by reporters and fans why I was leaving..I never threatened to sue. To say so, is defamatory, and you ought to know it.

  20. How would you know who was there, if you weren't there? And if only channels blah, blah, and blah were there, did you work for one of them? I recall being asked if, since I had sued a t.v. station famously in the past, I was leaving and planning to sue KFBK. I laughed and said absolutely not,and that I planned to study for the bar exam. In any event, the gm at the time, when KFBK had 15's for ratings and was way ahead of anyone else in town, was Rick Etchyson. He was a smart fellow who understood the voting demographics of the area, which tips democratic. Having opposing viewpoints (rush/me) on in between news blocks worked very well there. Now, he's running cap public radio, I think. That's not a format where he can bring in anything like a local host with a point of view, unfortunately.KFBK is all predictably right wing and not particular dynamic right wingers. I don't think there's any real talk radio left here since Enid Goldstein left, at least not anything to get your brain cells moving.

  21. I think I was right, Speedboat.....you do not yearn for a permanent gig at KGOne. You're a very bright and articulate soul, and when you're not on the airwaves, you're likely actively engaged in those activities that best suit you (and which are really none of anyone's business). In your "fill-in" status - it's pretty immaterial to you whether or not KGOne succeeds or fails. So as long as it hangs on - many of us will look forward to hearing you whenever they give you a call.
