KGO-TV's Solid Carolyn Tyler on Sunday Morning

I like Carolyn Tyler. She delivers a quality, interesting, straight-forward Sunday-morning newscast on the local TV news deli.

I've always wondered why Tyler hasn't been moved to the weekday primetime schedule on KGO-TV's, (ABC7) news blocks. She's versatile, she's a veteran and she's been in the Bay Area for multiple decades and has several industry awards on her resume.

A few months ago I asked Tyler herself about whether she was happy with her current status and she told me that she was. Again, many a times I thought Tyler would be a solid news anchor at night. It's OK, Sunday morning works just fine and is a nice local newscast for sure.

  1. Perhaps a Afternoon Show now that the "funny man" and his show "7 Live" have imploded.

    1. He's not even funny anymore on his Sunday radio show. That's why he invites standup comics to do the "Headliners on headlines" hour.

    2. Hearing Dopeland's first lines with his dopey voice: "well hello this is Brian Dopeland talking" gives me hives. As for Ms. Carolyn Tyler, I've had a crush on her since I was a 12 year old boy. Something about her is very appealing to me...

  2. Rich,

Some people are happy right where they are, I'm sure she's compensated rather well. Whenever I see her doing a live report, I also look to see if her hair is going to blow of into the wind. she's solid!

    1. Don't worry. I'm sure her hair is anchored down. She is solid, highly under-rated.

  4. Speaking of hair....can we do something about female reporters who INSIST on having their hair blow in their faces???? Is that supposed to be sexy or something?

  5. Carolyn Tyler is a solid class act on Sunday mornings. The only morning that its worth getting up (sometimes early) is Sunday. It's got the two best programs on TV. CBS Sunday Morning and the KGO news with Carolyn Tyler.

  6. Didn't she used to occasionally anchor primetime? Suzanne Saunders/Shaw - Anna Chavez days (pre Dan Ashley / Terilyn Joe?)

  7. I saw her sitting in a Live Truck out near SFO last week - in a "viewing Area". I didnt have the balls to say hello - but she is as solid as they come and she is a mega-babe.

  8. The few times I have seen News Anchors in real life/ vis a vi, I have tried to refrain from saying anything at all to them. I figure, they want some private time, where no one is going to pretend to be shocked by a TV personality who is NOT SMILING EAR TO EAR all the live long day. I know they must get tired of that, maybe. When I see an anchor at my local 24hr fitness, I just keep going. They are usually smaller in real life than one may expect. TV adds to the monolith image. When they're off camera, I just say, Let it Be.

  9. Goodguy is correct. Tyler used to anchor the weekend primetime gig after Cheryl Jennings got promoted.
