Bill Mann wrote a very neat, concise, and edgy media column for the Bay Area News Group, (BANG).
He spent a good deal of time with the Oakland Trib as its TV critic in the mid-to late 80's.
No more.
Mann wrote his last column Friday, given notice earlier by BANG execs he was to be laid off with several other staffers.
I knew Mann fairly well. (He's now up in Washington State and does a column for SF-based Marketwatch.
Mann's columns injected his own often irreverent sense of humor. He had a very biting wit as evidenced by his numerous appearances on radio, (He's a regular on the Norman Goldman show.)
Here's to a solid pro.
