Joe Starkey, 'Reporting Live from the Royal Wedding in London for KGO Radio!'

Joe Starkey, the voice of CAL football and ex-49ers PBP-man is in London reporting for KGO Radio on the Royal Wedding.

He just filed this latest account direct from the incredible proceedings:

There are millions of people lining the streets of London! Hyde Park is awash with Brits, Americans, the French, everybody is in the party spirit...Wow!, here comes the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton and there's William, the future King! OMG!!...the most amazing, sensational, incredible, scene---OMG, I can't contain myself. There are bands out on the Hyde Park Field--I mean, the bands are out on the field! OMG! I can't believe it--What a bonanza! This is British Royalty at its greatest....Please, folks, excuse em, I'm losing my voice, but between the scene I'm witnessing right now and the sea of humanity, THIS IS INCREDIBLE---Thousands of people are throwing their crumpets and bangers at all of us and the future king and queen are just going nuts! This is the greatest, unbelievable, most amazing finishes in the history of college football, er, Royal Weddings--OH MY GOD!

We now go back to KGO's Stan Burford for 'first traffic on the 5's.

  3. Interesting that the sons look more like Di's bodyguard and Tennis coach than Charles. Exactly like them..including going bald.
It may turn out Charles isn't fertile..and Di was overhot.
The royal sons too, have refused any kind of DNA testing. Why lose a great gig?

  6. When Mr Oh What a Bonanza...used to do Cal games and fly cross country and do 9er games, we just knew there might come a fateful day...and it came, that time he showed up at the 9er game with no voice; Enter Joe Fonzi and the wheels were in motion for Andy Dolich and Bob Sargent to find another voice. I was really hoping for Joe Fonzi.
Ted Robinson has other sports where he excells at. Currently FB is not one of them. Baseball and Tennis are two of his best.
Wonder what happend to Kim Yonenaka?

  8. Love Joe Starkey. I heard him say that his wife was really into all things British royalty, and she wanted them to go to London for the festivities. KGO got him to do some reporting while there. I have no problem with that. And yes, it would have been funny to have Joe call the wedding play-by-play as he does a football game!

  9. During CAL games, kindly give the score once in a while, Joe. Oh, and use the player's names instead of "he.' Both would be refreshing changes. Or just retire, that would be fine too.

  10. Far more interesting would be the color commentary by Gary Plummer....

"Joe, I remember the time when the team was in the UK for that London game. Lets just say we had "bangers & mash" in the back of the coach (bus)!"

"What do you mean I can't say Fanny?"

"Kate, if you're looking for a little something on the side, swing my way, baby!"

"Wow, look at the Royal Jewels on her!"

"Joe, she's a beefeater, if you know what I mean."

"Bob's your Uncle? Bob your Gary!!"

"Joe, the honeymoon is just like football: first you start with a pass, then you need a tight end, ball control, and then you're finally penetrating the end zone and SCORE!"
