Savage honesty; KNBR ignores Oakland sports; Niners stadium coverage; Bay Area media notes

*People ask me why I have "sucked" up to Michael Savage. Real simple, you may hate him and cringe at what he says, but he generally speaks the truth, or at least says some things that make total sense and nobody in this market has the courage to say, too busy worrying about pissing off the mainstream bosses who have zero pulse on  just what the hell is going on. At least Savage tells it like it is and whether you agree or disagree, you LISTEN.

And by the way, Savage didn't pay me a penny to say this, so if you dare 'go there, you ain't got nothing, but feel free to check. Please, go ahead, make my day.

**It dawned on my Monday night sitting in the Coliseum press box watching the A's-LA Angels, that no one from Knibber was to be seen. As irrelevant as knibber is, it would be nice if the so-called "sports leader" send one of their various enablers to cross the bridge and "report" on the A's, but that isn't on their ledger--Knibber only covers the Giants, Warriors and 49ers--the Raiders and A's are rumors on their playlist, which has now been reduced to Blood, sweat and tears, KC and the Sunshine Band, and a little Disco duck in between.

**Here's your 49ers/Santa Clara stadium election "coverage" Tuesday night in a nutshell: the assembled dim-witted masses with cameras will automatically conclude that if the stadium proposal is passed, (and it probably will) then, "oh boy, 'Niners have their new stadium and are headed to Santa Clara"; well sorry, but reality bites...the truth is, a ballot passage merely allows the franchise to move ahead with their "plans", those pesky little things, like financing about a BILLION bucks, dealing with the Great America people, land issues, infrastructure, those little ditties? So while you see the inane, dummy reporter acting gleeful with all the other gleeful 49ers celebrating in some Santa Clara hotel, keep in mind the hard work still lies ahead.

**KGO/KSFO Dick Morris deal: I mentioned on Monday that Dick Morris did the KSFO morning show, THEN followed an hour later on Ronn Owens' KGO show, which is not the usual formula with guest exclusivity on KGO...suffice to say, many a peeps were vastly pissed off to the max and a whole slew of meetings took place at 900 Front, and no, they weren't eating doughnuts, I'm told.

**The Helen Thomas story was largely ignored in the Bay Area press; albeit it did receive heavy play on the KGO talk-radio circuit. Curiously, only a wire-service story on SFGate was their responce; SF Appeal ignored it, ditto Internet counterpart SFist.com, too busy I guess showing their latest "Meanwhile, in Berkeley" picture or the latest wacky photo of the day. (No wonder they were just sold and are about to be outsourced--oops, take that "Mr. 2.0.)

**Hey, enough of the usuage of "Timmy" Lincecum--its TIM for gawds sake, not because he's been sucking lately, its just that "Timmy" is a 13 year-old student at elementary school--TIM is a pitcher with the SF Giants, got that, pencilheads?

Time to eat an omellete and drink more coffee.

  1. Who are you kidding Rich? Savage is to you what Zito is to Urban. Savage tells what truth? He's wealthy and America has only done him good-so he rips the good old USA? EVERY day? Has he suffered under Obama? is Savage now mowing his own lawn to save a buck? Name what truth he says! Is it that with all he has, it isnt enough?

  2. I think everyone here understands you hate KNBR. Thats fine, I am not a fan of theirs either, but can we maybe move on, and drop the assault on them? Its old and tired and you rip them every other day. If you don't have anything else to write, don't post anything.

  3. Hey anon#2-Shuddup!..its the best thing Rich does. You know I never have read a SINGLE remark that KNBR might be biased and less than truthfull by ANY local writer-is that scary of the power of KNBR on Kawamaki,Poole,or Cohn..that not one utters a crtical word? Poole accused the A's of trying to whiten up a few years ago-whats KNBR other than Brooks?..he says nothing.A KNBR sports host trolls Tim Kawakami's blog...does Tim say KNBR fosters that kind of corporate spy mentality? no,Tim never as much as mentions KNBR-scary huh?
The only sports writer who has gone after KNBR a few years ago? he got off a column or two...and was never heard from again!. He found much wrong with KNBR..not a single bay area sports writer see's anything wrong now-lol.
They find wrong with owners management,players-and other cities Sports stations as homers and shills..but silence on KNBR. Big Brother is here and works in the sports department.

  4. Sigh, another posting where Richard goes anonymous and rips a real commenter.

HEY RICHARD, PRETTY SURE MARTY LURIE WORKS FOR KNBR AND WAS AT THAT GAME, RIGHT? IN FACT HE'S AT ALMOST EVERY A'S GAME. PRETTY SURE HE RECORDS INTERVIEWS IN THE COLISEUM BOOTH AND -ACTUALLY PLAYS THEM ON KNBR-, RIGHT?

RICH, ENOUGH ABOUT KNBR, ENOUGH MAKING UP POSTS, ENOUGH WHINING, ENOUGH!

Also, why do you still have a press box pass? Considering you are no longer affiliated with any legitimate new organization, maybe it's time your access to the booth was reviewed.

  5. Rarely do I post comments about my own content, but I have to here...

    A. Unlike most blogs, I leave up "anonymous" commenters because I do know that not everybody wants to post publically, which is fine, unless of course it gets personal and vitriolic.

I can handle the knocks and shots, but if you're going to rip and post secretally behind that computer, you're worthless.

--Responding to any anoymous comments is usually a no-no for me, but the last "commenter" went overboard, (and I know who you are, btw)

Again, feel free to rip, but you get personal and then its time to consider any/all options.

  6. As a person not afraid to beat a subject to death if I have strong feelings about it-but it's downright un democratic to not have any writer speak ill of KNBR,it's UNAMERICAN to have even KNBR's what should be eastbay newspaper writers competition so cowed as to not utter a word of complaint. KNBR/GIANTS/COMCAST are buying off all the writers via TV and Radio appearences..or more??
Instead of attacking Rich on that..open your manipulated by big media eye's and see!
Even Rich knows he's been blacklisted by KNBR..THEY keep him off Comcast, they wanted him off SF Gate, they leave him only KTRB..In tiny doses and I dont know he gets to say any KNBR smack. As those who work for KTRB know damn well they might need another job in sports in the bay area in the future..they worry-BLACKLIST!

  7. It's pretty simple. KNBR/Cumulus would rather pay someone $9 an hour to sit in a back room to cut any prevalent A's sound off of the EPSN News feed than pay someone $9 an hour PLUS gas expenses to head over to the 510. Don't question THE SPORTS LEADER.

  8. Rich nice seeing you this morning..good conversation.....by the way I spent the entire game with you last night in Oakland in the press box and my shows are on KNBR...I was the guy sitting next to Joe Salvatore, Hal Ramey, and Terry Christman...I enjoy your blog...
    Best,

  10. Rich, you're spot on about the Santa Clara vote; CW31 in Sacramento reported this morning that the vote passing in Santa Clara signals the closing of Candlestick

  11. Richard is deleting comments... he is now practicing what he has been railing against; He has absolutely no credibility whatsoever.

  12. Gee Marty-nice back handed slap to embarrass Rich. Your also a lawyer-who knows exactly what he's doing- and you could have sent Rich a private email..but no,Your now a flunkie of KNBR and so you stab Rich in the back. In public.
Remind me not to ever trust you.
