Longtime Bay Area TV anchor Jerry Graham died of an apparent heart attack Monday at his Santa Cruz home. He was 78.
Graham spent the bulk of his career at KRON where he anchored on weekends and was host of the popular show, "Bay Area Back Roads." He also had a stint at KPIX and was briefly the GM at the old KSAN Radio.
But it was Backroads that vaulted Graham into local celebrity status in the Bay Area. The show won numerous industry awards and was a favorite among viewers with its lavish video homage to various Bay Area locales.
Graham was well-liked and had an insatiable giggle and well-established personality. He is survived by a wife and has three children.
Graham would have turned 79 on Tuesday.
