The early consensus why Damon Bruce is no longer on the 9-Noon KNBR 680 slot: Analysis
*Bruce, although talented and sports knowledgeable, (he knows his stuff), said too many provocative things for the station's sports client base, (Giants/49ers/Warriors). Sure, you can tell it like it is, but you have to build up a lengthy tenure locally and have the audience back you. You also have to build up credibility and possess cachet. Bruce was probably spot on on most of his rants, but hasn't been here long enough to establish a lot of listener/client cred.
*When you build up some momentum and land a choice gig, you also have to show a little tact. Bruce' ego and press-box behavior, (arrogance) drove many people, (the ones who count too), the wrong way. That may be utter crap, but its the truth.
*The Radnich factor: I don't think GR went out and behind the scenes and tried to get rid of Bruce. Gary used to have a lot of power, (mostly under ex-PD, Tony Salvadore), but no longer. He does have some juice with upper mgt. suits and he may have barked a little louder on this situation.
*The Show. Quite frankly, the Radnich-Bruce pairing, (which debuted Aug. 1) was bad and awkward from the beginning. Both Bruce and Radnich hurt each other's cause. It was unsettling to hear over the air and frankly, bad radio. In fact, this sordid circus, (a Lee Hammer production), could end up costing someone their job.
Finally, and this is the touchy part: Bruce' public behavior may have gottem him into hot water. It's well known and seen, (like at AT&T Park last night) that Bruce likes to have a good time. That may have been the last straw.
